Pro Football Hall of Famer John Elway was reportedly driving in a horrific golf cart accident that has his close friend and former
NFL agent, Jeff Sperbeck, on life support.
On Tuesday, TMZ reported that Elway and Sperbeck
were involved in a golf cart accident in La Quinta, California, on Saturday night. According to TMZ, Sperbeck “fell off the back of the moving vehicle, rolled and hit his head on asphalt,” leaving him seriously injured.
Later in the evening, TMZ confirmed that John Elway was the one driving the cart when the terrible accident happened. The two-time
Super Bowl champion reportedly called 911, and paramedics found Sperbeck “unconscious but still breathing.”
Sperbeck was taken to the Desert Regional Medical Center, where he remains on life support, according to TMZ.
A witness speaking to KESQ in Palm Springs described the tragic scene.
“It was nothing like we’ve ever seen,” the eyewitness said. “You just don’t think you’re ever gonna witness anything like that. But his wife was hysterical.”

Jeff Sperbeck was John Elway’s agent during the latter’s Hall of Fame career, spent solely with the
Denver Broncos. Elway led the club to five Super Bowl appearances, finally winning it all for the first time in the 1997 season before leading them to a second consecutive title in his swan song 1998 campaign.
Elway later joined the Broncos’ front office in 2011, taking over as the general manager and executive vice president of football operations. He was the architect of the 2012-15 Broncos powerhouse led by
Peyton Manning that won four AFC West division crowns, two conference championships and Super Bowl 50.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jeff Sperbeck and his loved ones during this devastating time. Here’s hoping he makes a safe and speedy recovery.
