Yep. They fired the Wrong guy then; and they fired the Wrong guy now too.
What they should have done back then was trade away the young malcontents. Now, that ship has sailed, and this team is probably going to end up needing a top to bottom overhaul.
The Bruins have been outscored 13-2 in their last 2 games.

It was still a top level team, then. DeBrusk and Carlo should have been shipped out on a rail. The front office, almost certainly including Neely, and maybe even the owner/owner's family, had a choice between coddling mentally soft players and sticking up for an old school head coach, and they chose poorly.

3 of their last 4 games now have produced all of One goal in each of them.
Beecher & McLaughlin are NOT NHL players.
Merkulov's been the PBs' most productive player since arriving there a couple of years ago; for fuck's sake put him on a top-9 line and fucking keep him there for awhile to see if he he's able to bring that touch to the next level... This fucking bunch of under-talents needs all the fucking help it can get.

Swayman's (or Korpisalo's) play on the ice isn't the main problem here. His salary, preventing us to add a legit top-6 Forward without trading one of our over-paid Defencemen & at least one 1st-round draft pick, is a different matter...
To repeat: ONE...GOAL...PER...GAME.
Their #1 goalie has a save percentage under 90, and has furballed it more than half a dozen times this season.
So whether you want to call Swayman's garbage play or the Punch and Judy offense the #1 problem, either one is fatal to this team's hopes for the season.

After watching last night's embarrassment, ownership needs to decide if they're Buyers or Sellers, because what they're doing right now ain't cutting the mustard; hell they didn't look like Any kind of PO team last night, in Any phase: scoring, defense AND goal-tending... Ownership also needs to decide whether Sweeney's the one to place its buy-or-sell decision in motion... which of course he isn't.
