In the 1980’s, Dwight Evans was the only American League player to have more than 600 extra-base hits. From 1980 through 1989, Evans had 605 extra base hits (306 2B, 43 3B and 256 HR).
Dwight Michael "Dewey" Evans played with the Boston Red Sox (1972–1990) and Baltimore Orioles(1991). He was a three-time All-Star, won eight Gold Glove Awards, and two Silver Slugger Awards. Evans played the second-most career games for the Red Sox of any player, surpassed only by Carl Yastrzemski. Dwight Evans was not inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, but he was a finalist in the 2020 Modern Baseball Era ballot. In 1999, Evans was dropped from the ballot after receiving less than 5% of the vote.

Wish he had done more during the 1970s; he'd be in the HOF today if he had.
 
He should be anyway in my opinion. He had a rocket for an arm.

Yes he did... I saw his very first major-league appearance at Fenway Park, late in the 1972 season (the first one in which they were in the chase since '67 itself) as a defensive replacement... He made a terrific diving catch of a sinking, low line drive to end the game, a Sox win... Good times, good times...

ESPN's coverage of Major League Baseball games — at least in its current form — will conclude at the end of the 2025 season.

ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro informed baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred on Thursday morning that the network was opting out of the final three years of its contract, two people told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because because they weren’t authorized to discuss financial matters.

ESPN and MLB both made statements Thursday night confirming the end of the current rights deal...

ESPN and Major League Baseball will end television deal after 2025 season
