Kinda surprised Apple is in this space. Speaking only from my subjective experience as someone who really wanted to like VR (owned but returned an Oculus), I do not think this is a technology for everyday lifestyle / productivity like Apple’s other products. People may love it at first but the novelty wears off quickly and for many, like myself, your mind kind of rejects it even if you want to like it. It can be exhausting as well.

My favorite part about the Oculus was just being able to watch a movie in a virtual movie theater because I could really get engrossed. I also liked a meditation app for similar reasons. Beyond that I found everything else - games, web browsing, 3D content and tours - pretty gimmicky and worse, irredeemably unintuitive.

I think VR has it’s place but will always be somewhat niche for special applications, not for every day use.

I’d love to use one of these for a few hours and I’m sure the technology will blow me away, and I’m sure sales will skyrocket, but how many people are going to realistically continue to use these regularly in a month, six months, a year? And for that price? I predict this fizzles out and Apple takes an L, though it will have a cult Apple fanboy following.

Dunno man. It is supposed to marry virtual reality with augmented reality. That is one way they can differentiate the product.

But 4K? Too rich for my blood right now....3-4 more generations down the road it'll cost less...be lighter...more powerful...

Kinda wild seeing folks putting their Teslas on auto-pilot and disappearing into their headsets...
