Don't take it personal. I'm a little twisted.

I thought this might be a interesting thread. Have you met any celebrities in your travels?

The first celebrity I met was when I was around 11. I used to have a paper route and delivered to a former Red Sox player named Bill Spanswick. He only pitched a couple of innings for the Sox, but I was still star struck. His claim to fame is he was on the same rookie baseball card as Tony Conigliaro.

I worked in a fancy French restaurant in Lennox Mass, which is a very upscale type of place. We did the wedding for Karen Allen (Animal House, Indiana Jones) and I met her and the guy who did the Dunkin Donuts commercial "Time to make the donuts".

Also while working at the restaurant, I met Quincy Jones the music producer for Sinatra and Michael Jackson. I said hey and he just nodded at me.

While volunteering at a homeless shelter I was sent to a presentation by the then current Miss America in 2000. Her name is Heather French. I ended up eating dinner with her at my table of 6 during the event. After dinner she did autographs and pictures for us.

Lastly and probably my favorite was meeting was Ray Manzarek, the organist for the Doors. I met him at a collectibles show I was doing. Back when I smoked cigarettes I was outside having a smoke break. Someone tapped me on the shoulder and when I turned around Ray was there. He asked me for a smoke so I happily obliged. We talked for about 5 minutes before Traci Lords came out and asked for a cigarette too. I gave her one and she whined because it was a menthol. She was actually quite a bitch. Anyways, Ray was cool and told me to come see him when I went back in. He was signing photos for $$$. So he called me to the front of the line and signed a photo for me. His manager went to take money from me for it but Ray waved him off.

Another celebrity I met was when I was a bartender at an exclusive Country Club in New Hampshire was Bob Dole. He drank Gin and tonics.

My most memorable encounters:

Bobby Orr - I have met him and spoken to him on several occasions as I was a hockey player and he was always showing up here or there. I also worked while in college at Gary Doak's (former Bruin) restaurant in Exeter, NH. Bobby Orr visited on occasion. Nothing noteworthy other than everything you have heard about him being the nicest human being is true.

Donald Trump - Met him while he was campaigning in NH in 2016. I brought my teenage daughter and we showed up at the high school about 10 hours early. We were up front and got to shake hands and speak to him briefly. I also had him sign the unopened box of one of his The Apprentice dolls.

Sarah Palin - I brought my daughter to Palin's rally at Weir's Beach in Laconia, NH in 2008. My daughter was 9 at the time. Palin took a lot of time afterwards to take photos with us, and she spoke one-on-one with my daughter for several minutes. She actually seemed quite genuine. And she was very pretty in person.

Jani Lane - not nearly as famous, but I met and partied with the band Warrant (Cherry Pie infamy) on their tour bus after a concert in 1990 when I was in high school, LOL. I was in the front at the stage (standing room only) during the concert. Jani used to go thru the crowd on the shoulders of a roadie for one or two songs. That way he didn't get mobbed. This night he decided to ask for someone from the crowd. I reached my arm up along with everyone else. Next thing I knew he was on my shoulders and security was leading me through the crowd. I got fucking mobbed by fans trying to get to the singer. 10 or so minutes later, I was led back to the stage to bring him back. My shirt had been completely shredded off, and I was bleeding from scratches all over. After the concert, I told my buddy that we were going back stage. I approached a roadie and said I would like to meet the band after going thru that fun. He brought us back to the tour bus and yelled up. We heard a voice say, no problem send them in. LOL, we were drinking on the bus for a few hours until it was time for them to hit the road. I remember his girlfriend on the bus was beautiful and super nice. Spoke to her for a while. Jani ended up dumping her not much later for Bobbi Brown (the Cherry Pie girl).

If I had insomnia maybe. Watching grass grow is more exciting
I respect your stance. You should give it a shot specially those Champions League finals or the World Cup the games tend to get intense. I wasn't a fan until maybe 5 or so years ago.

World Cup is OK. But I'd never give Guts the satisfaction of admitting a public hair of interest in soccer.
