I think lack of practice and training is leading to all these injuries.Pretty soon training camps will be walk throughs and classroom only. Then the regular season injuries increase and they start seriously messing with that.
My friend just tore his meniscus a month or two ago and that was his recovery. No surgery. I would guess that it’s different with pro athletes because they want the knee to come back stronger. Either that, or the physicians have convinced the teams that’s the case.They handle these things so differently than they used to. When I had a torn meniscus, it was:
- Surgery (hoping enough was left, post-op, to last you a lifetime)
- 2 weeks off the leg
- 2 weeks walking
- See the doctor for clearance to run
