It was stupid, and it was really just a by-product of the desire to get more black QBs into the league, combined with shitty QB development at the college level.

1. Dumbing down the smartest position, thus negating some of the strengths of superior pocket play
2. Increasing the injury likelihood of the position most in need of 100% game attendance
3. Paying the position, particularly the middling guys, an increasingly ridiculous amount of money
