NFL GameDay Official Week 3 GDT.

GameDay Discussion
Bledsoe's better than that trio. Patriots fans, oddly enough, underrate him because of the Brady comparisons..
I'd argue that Eli and Drew are closer, definitely statistically. But that Johnson and Gannon were both better but shorter careers.

Jags should take a knee here..

Johnson and Gannon were FAR smarter QB's than Bledsoe. They just didn't have his physical tools.

He was a solid QB, with a good team he got there which he proved. He's in that Rich Gannon, Brad Johnson, and Eli Manning level
I think Eli is a good comp. Both were close to .500 and made the pro bowl 4 times each. Eli got lucky as shit twice. Bledsoe was a little better overall.

Johnson is an Alex Smith level guy.

Gannon has such a weird career it’s hard to compare.

For fun, I don't have a strong conviction in this.. but it's an interesting conversation.

Gannon, realistically, had a career from age 32-37, and was a complete stiff other than that.

Sack Pct

Bledsoe - 6.50%
Eli - 4.82%

Just remember with stats, Bledsoe’s achilles heel is often hidden from traditional box score. Eli was overall good at avoiding them.

As a comp, Favre played in Bledsoe’s era and was another big armed guy, and his sack pct was 4.91. Brady 4.48. Peyton was 3.13 (his best trait.)

Favre and Bledsoe were guys who got stuck in between. They were both better suited for the old style, but they entered the league when it was transitioning to the short passing game. Both would be looked at more favorably today if they'd come up in the 80's instead of the 90's, because they'd have fit the league better.

He seems to be the clear leader in the "started week one as a 2024 rookie QB" clubhouse.

That being said... Maye didn't look too terrible on Thurs nite despite the two sacks he took.... if we used a TO or two...I think he would have had a TD pass.

The Bengals problem I think is coaching, and health obviously.

Pederson told the team and the TV lady that they had to score a TD on their first drive out of halftime...

Mission accomplished.
