he was one of my childhood football "heroes". i looked up to him as the old fashioned guy who was family oriented and did things the right way. he had a book come out about him called "straight arrow" all about this wholesome farm boy turned star that i thought he was. he had the world at his feet: young,good looking,1st round pick of a city that then had a more small town vibe. and he shit all over it. the end for me was when i found out he defrauded people to pursue gambling. worst among them,his own parents. and having kids didn't straighten out the broken arrow.
