49ers are going to get torn to pieces.. they have so, so many high end elite players on that roster

dont they have like 3-4 first round picks along the front line? Thats a lot of money that needs to get paid

Purdy being late 7th rounder on rookie payscale is only reason they're getting away with it i would imagine.. sucks they blew 2 opportunities to knock the chiefs off

It's ok, though. After the offense choked in the Super Bowl, the head coach fired the defensive coordinator.

They have us letting go of Kirk 😔
I don’t know the team that well but from a broad brush standpoint, they seem to be a ways away from contending and not sure paying big for a 36 yo QB makes sense for them right now. I love Cousins though.

He called an excellent Superbowl my friend, but for majority of the year the secondary wasn't in sync with the front seven. Many frustrating play calling as well. I think what doomed him was him wanting to call Cover 0 in OT and Shanahan had to call TO.

Why did Shanahan call so many plays with an empty backfield? Every pass was five guys split out. Most runs were I formation. So obvious. We all knew it was coming.

I get why they would move on, but as the President of the Kirk Cousins fan club I cannot sit idle and be okay with it. ha-ha

Oh don't misunderstand me my friend, I definitely lay most of the blame on Kyle. He hasn't learned from the previous three times he's been up with a lead. At some point it will become a question whether we move on from him or not. Right now he's still safe, but a lot of people here in SF are calling for his head.

If you're looking for bad playcalling in the Super Bowl, you need to be looking at Shanahan. And this isn't a first for him, either. I'm not trying to defend Wilks here, but Shanahan is where your problem starts.

Of course that 3rd quarter was what doomed us my friend. Mahomes gifted us a rare bad interception and he kept calling pass with no motion.

i have to agree. Tbh I didn’t think his playcalling was that bad in SB51. In the second half the Patriots were stonewalling the run. I think the Falcons had -1 yards and the Patriots were stacking the box. So it was more of a gray area…ideally you want to run with that lead but you’re facing a great run defense, Mack is hobbled, with and you have all those great playmakers.

However this latest Super Bowl makes me reconsider it. Just stupid. Just stupid to go against the #29 run defense and empty the backfield on every play in the 3rd quarter, when the Chiefs have a great pass rush and secondary and you struggle with pass protection.
