Here's what Grok had to say about possible bad blood between Josh McD and Adams

There’s no definitive evidence that Josh McDaniels and Davante Adams had a personal falling out. Their relationship during McDaniels’ tenure as head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders appears to have been complex, marked by professional frustration rather than a clear personal rift.

Adams expressed dissatisfaction with the Raiders’ offensive performance under McDaniels, particularly in 2023. He openly criticized the scheme, suggesting it required an elite quarterback like Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers to succeed, implying it didn’t suit the team’s personnel or quarterback situation—first Derek Carr, then Jimmy Garoppolo. This frustration peaked after a Monday night loss to the Detroit Lions in October 2023, where Adams was visibly upset on the sideline after missed opportunities, catching only one pass for 11 yards on seven targets. His comments about needing a change to “revitalize” the team came shortly before McDaniels was fired on October 31, 2023, hinting at a disconnect with the coaching strategy.

However, Adams consistently maintained a level of personal respect for McDaniels. In November 2023, after McDaniels’ firing, Adams said it wasn’t a “celebration” but a necessary shift, and he appreciated McDaniels and GM Dave Ziegler for bringing him to the Raiders via trade in 2022. Earlier, in May 2023, Adams emphasized his strong relationship with McDaniels, denying any bad blood and stating he doesn’t “B.S.” about such things. Even in March 2024, well after McDaniels’ exit, Adams called McDaniels a coach he “loved” and advocated for, suggesting the team needed someone players would rally behind—implying a leadership style mismatch rather than a personal feud.

The narrative of a “falling out” seems overstated. Adams’ frustrations were more about the system and results—evidenced by the Raiders’ 9-16 record under McDaniels and Adams’ reduced production in 2023 (e.g., 142 yards over four games)—than a breakdown in their personal rapport. McDaniels, for his part, acknowledged Adams’ perspective, saying in September 2023 he understood where Adams was coming from regarding the team’s struggles, and in November 2022, he didn’t take Adams’ critiques personally.

In short, while tensions existed due to on-field issues, the idea of a dramatic falling out doesn’t hold up against Adams’ own words of support and McDaniels’ measured responses. Their dynamic was strained by professional circumstances, not a irreparable personal clash. Adams’ eventual trade to the New York Jets in October 2024 was more about his desire to reunite with Aaron Rodgers and the Raiders’ direction under new leadership than lingering fallout from McDaniels, who’d been gone for nearly a year by then.

I would love to see Adams at the OWR1, but he'd have to STFU about the scheme. My guess is that he's seen how shitty Carr's been in New Orleans and probably had time to reassess "the system" in light of that, which might help. The scheme doesn't require an elite QB. It requires an intelligent one. Big difference.

He'd be a great quick fix for WR1, I'm all for it.. my gut feeling is he'll try to follow Rodgers again.. Like if it were the Giants it'd be a no-brainer.

...or the Vikings?

Adams is an annoying douche and is about to fall off a cliff as he’ll be 33 in December. If they’re not getting a FA / trade receiver in his prime, I’d rather just see them get a washed up guy like Hopkins as a WR2/3 for pennies the dollar.
