One week from today, April 17, the first round of the 2025 NFL draft will kick off from Green Bay, WI.
As the draft draws near, there's a chance another member of the Mahomes family will call the NFL home. Graham Walker, who shares father Patrick Mahomes Sr. with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, might hear his name called next weekend.
Even if he doesn't there's a good chance he lands on a team as an undrafted free agent. Walker started his collegiate football career at Brown where earned All-Ivy League honors in all three of his varsity seasons after hauling in 127 receptions for 1,496 yards and 15 touchdowns.
He eventually transferred to Rice where he was named All-AAC honorable mention at tight end after catching 24 passes for 252 yards. Now heading into the NFL, Walker is represented by Equity Sports - just like Mahomes.
"I know Patrick has been watching the games, and he's reached out and said the good things that I've been doing," Walker told
Seven Days. "When someone who's accomplished so much can say you're doing well, it really feels good."
Walker's mother, Jessamyn, admitted she's "nervous" during games - and will likely be feeling similar emotions next weekend during the draft.
"I am so nervous," she said. "It's hard for me to get through a game because I love everything about Graham catching the ball and anything he does, but I'm so terrified of him getting hurt."
Walker's plans for the NFL draft are to watch with family back home in Vermont.
