After the upcoming Suns game, the Celtics should go into full "be safe" mode for the rest of the regular season.
Sam Jones was one of the few players who could get away with taunting Wilt. Drafted out of a NC HBCU with the 8th pick in the 1957 draft, Sam joined the Celtics unsure if he belonged. The Celtics already had the best backcourt with Cousy and Sharman. He made the team when during his tryout Red saw that he was a tireless worker. He spent the first couple of seasons as a backup perfecting his famous bank shot. He also learned how to relocate and move without the ball, much like Stephan Curry today. When he shot his high arcing shot off the board he called out "too late" to the defender. Sometimes that defender was Wilt. Sam said Wilt might block some of his shots but he couldn't get all of them. So he'd shoot over Wilt's outstretched hand and call out "too late" when the shot banked in.
One night, Jones did his “too late” routine once too often, at least as far as Chamberlain was concerned. He chased Jones down the court, screaming, “I’m going to kill you if I catch you!” Jones grabbed an empty chair on the baseline, turned and faced Chamberlain.
“It’s possible if I’d hit him on the head with it, all I’d have done was break the chair,” Jones said years later. “He was that strong. Fortunately, Russell got there in time. I was only going to hit him in the knees if Bill hadn’t gotten there.
Sam Jones won 10 rings in 12 seasons and was as much a part of the Celtics success as Bill Russell.

They got HFA locked up?
Not officially, but the lead is not one to be easily blown by a team in their position. They are up 10 in the loss column in conference. They are up 6 in the loss column against the West.
Celtics beat the Suns and became the first team in the league to clinch a playoff spot this season.

Celtics had this game all wrapped up, with a 21 point lead. Then someone must have told them that I'd bet on them both to win, and to win by 10.5....
