Draft Talk / #3 Pick

that would take like 2 future 1st round picks probly to move up 2 spots, and Caleb Williams is a giant fucking gamble with his attitude/character concerns

I wouldn't draft him if he fell to #3, so obviously wouldnt be a fan of moving up for him

ill have to go look at past drafts to see what it would cost, but pretty sure 3 to 1 requires lots and lots of picks
I agree, but then i see CJ stroud and i think fuck it lets see what happens. Cant be scared to miss cause you can hit on 1 if you dont try

So according to this site's NFL Draft Value Chart:
https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp?RequestTeam=ne

Patriots total draft value this year is 3,149.4

The 1st overall pick is valued at 3,000

So it would essentially take us trading all of our draft picks to move up to #1, and they still wouldn't accept the trade because they would rather get a couple 1sts/2nds than a bunch of late rounders

Hate the idea of trading that much for a QB, especially a 5’11” one. I’m too lazy to cite the research but so many times these QBs have been overhyped busts and off the top of my head:

Mahomes went #10, nine picks after Trubisky

Herbert went #6, one pick after Tua

Stroud went #2, one pick after Young (who Panthers wrecked their franchise to obtain)

Basically every QB in the 2021 Draft sucks except maybe Lawrence

Jordan Love looks like a goddamn stud and he went 26th

Allen went 7th, three picks after Darnold and six picks after Mayfield

Would I prefer #1? Of course. Do I think it’s worth it if you know you’re getting a generational QB? I do. But there’s so much randomness and scouting is so complex and flawed, I don’t see the risk:reward being close to where it needs to be here.

The hard truth is if we don't dramatically improve the O-line we're going to continue to suck. So I would like to team to spend whatever resources necessary to make that a good unit. Worry about QB later in the draft, or through FA. And draft at least 2 WR's, gotta keep taking shots there.

In my point of view I would go with the remaining of Maye or Williams at #3 as some of you have stated. If they're gone by 3, I would draft Alt as I believe the best way in improving the team is in the trenches. We will need to replace Trent Brown as he is gone and the offensive line left much to be desired this past season.

Coach Mayo has a lot of work to do

Time to take white players off your draft boards.
