So 3 of the top 34 WRs in terms of separation are Patriots (Pop, Polk, Thornton) and the OL is top 5 in the entire NFL when it comes to fewest pressures allowed in under 2.5 seconds (our QB holds on to the ball for 3.2 seconds, on average.)
No wonder the entire WR room hates our starting QB.

With our line Maye will be out there soon enough. AVP needs to find a way to get the ball to PopI hate the concept of not playing a QB because you might ruin his confidence. It’s always a hindsight excuse made for QBs who suck. What kind of fragile little bitches are going to be mentally destroyed because they played poorly to begin their career? And why does every other position get thrown into the starting lineup based on skill level even if he’s a rookie?
If this is really the reason, Maye should be inactive for the games. The guy’s precious psyche is too fragile to play, but if Brissett gets injured, that’s fine if he plays?
So dumb.
Just fucking play Maye.

I think I tricked myself into agreeing with this since the draft, but on to week #3, it’s dawning on me that we’re also not exactly starting Drew Bledsoe here.I hate the foolishness of being so unable to be patient that you have to see a rookie play, and risk undermining his development, in a year where you have no shot to win anything.

If Jacoby is obviously not the guy to the point the team knows it, then it’s plausible it could stunt the teams development, and guys like Christian Gonzalez, who don’t think we’re really playing to win.
Who would sign a team-friendly “I want to stay” deal for a team like that if a better option was sitting on the bench?
I say start the kid. Send him out under the banners. See what he can do. See what he can turn into. If he dies, he dies.
Young was never going to be good. That’s the whole point. He’s 5’9”. I’ve been clowning him since the draft because he was so obviously going to fail, regardless of organization. It's not about the current QB1. This team isn't a contender, and it's not a team with an elite QB in front of the rookie. So the only difference the QB1 makes is in how silly people get in their demanding the rookie.
Somewhere between 25-30 teams know that their QB is not the guy, yet the players still play to win.
Jacoby's not your starter next season, so how would this apply in any way?
So we just decide not to learn from history, then? Carolina's going through this right now, with Young, and we just went through this shit with Jones (it happened in year two with him).
ESPN is talking about outlawing Cover-2 because the current level of QB play is so bad. It’s not hard to beat. Split the safeties.
