NFL GameDay Official Week 3 GDT.

GameDay Discussion
Young was never going to be good. That’s the whole point. He’s 5’9”. I’ve been clowning him since the draft because he was so obviously going to fail, regardless of organization.

What about CJ Stroud, day 1 starter, drafted second overall? Texans were 4-13 the year before. Joe Burrow? Justin Herbert?

Stroud was dropped into a team that was ready for a rookie QB and is obviously an exception to a lot of QB rules (heck, he's an Ohio State QB who doesn't suck in the NFL). Burrow got his ass beat, went 2-7-1 with a passer rating under 90, and was lost for the season due to injury. Herbert wasn't going to be the starter until the team's trainer got wild with a needle.

As for what Young was "never going to be", we'll never know. The bell can't be unrung.

so then the pats should have drafted joe alt then?

Some fun numbers. Through 2 weeks the total number of TD passes is 66… the average for the past several years is 105-110.

Also Drake Maye and JJ McCarthy are tied for the most TD passes by a rookie so far this year

And that’s with all of the rules designed to help QBs and offenses. What a god awful product.

Using a quarter of the season as a substitute for training camp has a huge impact on the quality of the game.

Also, for all the talk about guys like Burrow and Herbert, for example, Herbert took a 5-11 team to 7-9, while Burrow took a 2-14 team all the way to 4-11-1. And Peyton, mighty Peyton, managed to take a 3-13 team to the grand heights of 3-13 while setting the league's INT record. Most rookie QBs are not Andrew Luck or C.J. Stroud.

And there's no Laremy Tunsil on the Patriots.

Yes but they got better. Playing right from the start, with a not ideal supporting cast, didn’t “ruin” them.

Not everyone who crosses a highway without looking dies. That doesn't mean everyone should start crossing highways without looking.

And, given that Burrow, who was already 24 and had 4 years of college development at major programs (OSU, LSU), suffered a major injury in his rookie season, the notion that he's some proof of the notion that starting a QB as a rookie is the way to go is a dubious one, at best.

Announcers for Patriots vs. Jets

  • Lead Play-by-Play Announcer: Al Michaels
  • Color Commentator(s): Kirk Herbstreit
  • Sideline Reporter(s): Kaylee Hartung
This week's game will be featured on Amazon Prime only.

John Hussey will be the head referee for Thursday's game. He began his career in the NFL in 2002 as a line judge and moved up to his current position in 2015. The Patriots vs. Jets will be his 150th game called.

Over the last nine seasons, Hussey seems to be fairly down the middle with penalties, hovering around 50% of calls on home and away teams. However, home teams have won far more in games he's called the away team, which isn't the kind of stat you want to see when the Patriots are playing on the road this week.

Full Officiating Crew

  • Umpire: Tony Michalek (#115)
  • Down Judge: Max Causey (#21)
  • Line Judge: Carl Johnson (#101)
  • Sideline Judge: Allen Baynes (#56)
  • Field Judge: Anthony Flemming (#90)
  • Ball Judge: Mat (#96)

Who are the announcers and referees for Patriots vs. Jets today?

I’m surprised at how nasty your defense is. I didn’t see that coming. Darnold has had some streaks of looking competent, though, before crashing back down to Earth. I hope not. I wouldn’t mind seeing ex-Patriot KOC have a successful season.

As I predicted once again, a very winnable game but would be closer than it needed to be because of the QB. Can't win averaging 18 PPG.

To the organization: Put in Maye or I will be KOing everyone in the organization stiff. This is my demand. You have until Thursday night to comply.

Looks like my demand will not be met by the deadline.

Whose chin should I smash first? You've got 3 choices:

1. AVP
2. Alex Van Pelt
3. Gregory Alexander Van Pelt

Jets edge rusher Jermaine Johnson confirmed that he tore his Achilles earlier this week and the Jets moved him off of their 53-man roster ahead of Thursday night’s game against the Patriots.

Johnson was injured in last Sunday’s win over the Titans and is set to miss the rest of the season. The Jets filled his spot on the roster by signing defensive lineman Jalyn Holmes off of the practice squad...
