I believe they still have that rule about giving yourself up and you can't be touched after that or it's a personal foul. I seem to recall seeing a lot of penalties in the early two thousands may be 04-05 era where the quarterback gave themselves up and somebody came in after that and hit them and got the penalty. smart quarterbacks were sliding late in order to draw the penalty.
