Patriots news

Week 1, even though Cincy was no functioning well, we saw sure tackling, good defensive flow to the ball, rarely saw anyone on D grossly out of position.

The, something changed ... sloppier on all aspects of the D.
Injuries have not helped, especially Bentley for his run stopping and leadership. But it's more than that imo, shows up in all phases

Defense is missing

Barmore
Guy
Bentley
Dugger

Common sense tells us that the run defense would suffer as a result.

I think we were talking more of the decline from week 1 to now, Barmore and Guy don't factor into that.. Dugger has been in and out, also I forgot Peppers, definitely an impact player. It's probably I little of everything, moral, injuries, shitty coaching

Week one was, obviously, week one. They were facing a Bengals team that was not ready to play and hasn't been very good all season.

That Bengals game might be the worst thing to happen to this team all season, though Maye getting hurt any time before the bye would overtake it for that top spot. People have been using it as a yardstick ever since, and they've been using in as if the Bengals were coming off of a SB year and were in SB shape. But nothing could be further from the truth. As I wrote after that game "1-16 is still on the table".

Look at the pursuit angles, sure tackling - the D just looks sloppier each week. A good pursuit that just gets beat looks far different from what I am seeing of late. Then BB comes out with his statements on McAfee's show ... I'm looking for reports of dissention in the ranks.

A shitty team, losing its best run defenders, is looking worse against the run. There's no great mystery there. The CBA rules limit real practices, and this is what happens to teams with limited front line talent that are also without depth.

You'll always find that eventually when you're dealing with shitty teams.

I have mocked the Mayo coaching tenure because, well, because the Mayo coaching tenure really deserves to be mocked. But nothing we are seeing should really surprise anyone. This is what you get when you combine

Shitty personnel
+
First year coaching all across the board
+
Injuries to key players on one side of the ball
+
A deliberate change to a more open offensive style that changes the game play away from a slug fest

and we all knew this was coming, and we've been talking about it since, basically, the disaster that was this year's free agency.

kraft starts talking about bb at about 35 minutes in.I'm sure some of you will love it.

Thanks, just confirms what we all knew.. ugh and after that he talks about Kaepernick.. what a fucking loser. He definitely working on his social credit score at this point, not winning football games. Unfortunately I think Mayo gets two full seasons unless we were to finish like 2-15 this year and start 0-7 next.

I don't yet know of any reason why he shouldn't be brought back next season, do you?

Dan Campbell turned the Lions around after 1-16 i think

Mayo is no Dan Campbell tho

I just think that, barring something extreme, head coaching hires deserve at least 2 years. Campbell is a good example, even after his first stint.

Otherwise, you're likely to be spinning your wheels, unless you are fortunate enough to draft a high-level QB. I mean, Davis gave McDaniels the axe in less than 2 years, and the replacement, the guy the locker room wanted, has that team at 2-5 this season. And McDaniels' second season had him get canned at 3-5, which was a slight improvement over the previous season (6-11), and a half game better than the Raiders current 2-5 record.

If you've got a Nathaniel Hackett situation, that's a horse of another color.
