Patriots news

Bedard podcast (it's long) including info and takes on the McDaniels/Vrabel pairing:

That was really good, I tend to not listen to Bedard's PPP videos because his titles are often "clickbaity", but I gave it a shot on your recommendation and it was surprisingly good and informative. @captain stone should give it a chance, he'd probably feel better about some of the coaches.

And, if not, he might find some more ammo to use in his comments. So it'd be a win either way...

Godwin - Need to see the medicals, but would only take him if I've got an OWR1 lined up as well
Cooper- His decline seems to be happening fast. Better to skip this one, just in case, unless he's coming dirt cheap (and he won't be)
Diggs - Need to see the medicals. If he's on track, and he's willing to accept a limited role and short term deal, I'll give it a shot, 2 years max
Hopkins - Yes, 2 years max
Allen - He doesn't want to come here, so skip this one

Hill - Yes
Kupp - Yes
Adams - Yes
Metcalf - He doesn't want to come here, so skip this one
Brown - Abso-freakin-lutely
Samuel - Maybe, but probably not. I'd explore all other options first
Pretty much how I feel. Though I don't like Hill, he was pretty bad this past year even with Concussion on the field. I really wish Godwin didn't completely wreck his knee mid-last season. He's such a good player, even if he's not a true #1, I'd be all in on him.... coming off that injury at 29 though I'm out.

I was already excited about this staff.. with the McDaniels stuff, hiring process and the scheme talk i'm like...

What I'm most interested in is really twofold, with both things being about McDaniels and Maye:

  • With all the talk about evolution, how much of the old system (which is clearly superior to the McVeigh system when it's led by a good QB) will be incorporated over time?
  • How much of the responsibility will McDaniels be willing to put on Maye, both early and over time
  • Bonus questions: Will we be getting a FB, and what will be the under center/shotgun split?

LOOKING BACK ON SIGNIFICANT MOMENTS IN PATRIOTS FOOTBALL ...
ON THIS DATE (February 3, 2019) ... Super Bowl LIII at Atlanta
The Patriots tied the Pittsburgh Steelers as the winningest team in Super Bowl history, by securing their sixth championship with a 13 to 3 victory over Los Angeles Rams. But it would be the last Super Bowl win for Tom Brady in a Patriots uniform.
It will be remembered as a staunch defense by the Patriots while the Rams offense set records for futility. It was 3-to-3 after three quarters of play when the Patriots broke it open with Brady coming to life and directing a 69-yard touchdown drive, highlighted by a diving catch by Rob Gronkowski at the 2-yard line. Sony Michel ran it in to take the lead 10-3 with seven minutes left. Gronk had 47 of their 69 yards in the fateful five-play touchdown drive, in his last game as a Patriot.
It looked as if the Rams might tie it at the five-minute mark, but Stephon Gilmore picked off Jared Goff at the 4-yard line, to close the door. Stephen Gostkowski added a 41-yard field goal with three minutes left in the game, to put the icing on the cake.
Julian Edelman caught 10 passes for 141 yards and was named MVP in the lowest scoring game in Super Bowl history. But it was Brady, at 41-years old, who became the most decorated player in football history.
