2024 Boston Red Sox

That full throttle thing is really paying off. You might want to get those World Series tickets ordered today. It's amazing that we missed this earlier.

The Red Sox made a minor trade Friday to shore up their catching depth before spring training.

Boston acquired veteran catcher Tyler Heineman from the Mets for cash considerations, according to a team announcement. Right-hander Max Castillo was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
Heineman, 32, has 104 games of major league experience in parts of four seasons with Miami, San Francisco, Toronto and Pittsburgh. He projects as a depth option behind starter Connor Wong and backup Reese McGuire and could join fellow veteran additions Roberto Pérez and Mark Kolozsvary at Triple-A Worcester. Heineman has a minor league option remaining, meaning he can be shuffled back and forth between the majors and minors. Unlike Pérez and Kolozsvary, Heineman has a spot on the 40-man roster.
