If you know that you're going to target a player as your #1 post draft pick this far in advance, you might as well burn a low round (6th, 7th) pick on him, and be sure that you get him.

I agree if it's possible, they might already have a guy or two they want in the 7th though and would push the next guy to 1st FA signing. Or maybe it's just a block of 3 or so guys and two of em end up being there in the 7th and you thought no way that'd happen.
