Who goes to the Super Bowl?

I think the Chiefs are already a historically notable team and that Mahomes is an all-time great. I get annoyed at a couple of narratives.

1. Mahomes joined a team that was winning 10/11 games and their division every year. Brady joined a team that was 5-13 and had no hope of competing in 2001. National narrative is a 180.

2. This is more about every QB compared to Brady, but especially Mahomes recently. Brady was not only playing before multiple rule changes favoring the offense, but averaged a full touchdown more than Bledsoe (a pro bowler and highest paid QB in the league) but in 2001 had absolute garbage for skill players. From 2002-06 this fluctuated between garbage and semi-garbage. Trying to compare TD passes, passer rating, yards, etc in a different era and with that relative talent gap is disingenuous. We all saw in 2007 with Brady. We can confidentially say those raw numbers from 2001-06 would look much, much different with guys like Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Marvin Harrison, Reggie Wayne, J’Marr Chase, etc.
You make a lot of decent points. Reid had us fighting for division titles but a early playoff exit before Mahomes. He's been the difference maker and ultimately the reason why we are in the golden Chiefs era. I think if Mahomes keeps this level of consistent play, keeps winning at his pace, a few more MVPs, and gets 5 rings that should cement him as the GOAT.

In what world is 5 > 7, my guy?

His all world talent alone makes up for the other two.
Not when we saw what happened face to face
Our guy Tom went to your guy's house and sent him packing
Annnnnnd never forget the ass whoopin in the Superbowl Tom never lost by double digits in the Super bowl

He’d have lost two games in the playoffs to a MUCH older Brady head-to-head and would have two less titles. No fucking way, dude. Mahomes needs at least 7 to be in the same stratosphere as Brady.

It will absolutely not cement him as the GOAT. There will always be many - if not the majority - of football fans that will not consider him the GOAT with 7-5 Super Bowl deficit (0-2 head to head in postseason) to Brady. By the time he gets to that point, there will be other QBs surpassing his passing stats, as that’s the nature of the league. Also MVPs may be important to pump up your guy with your like minded friends, but no one really cares about MVPs in GOAT arguments in any sport.

If he does what you’re projecting, he’ll have a legitimate argument to being the greatest ever, though it will be far from universally compelling. Montana and Brady have been the guys with near universal GOAT recognition, and I think we all know the most important factor.

I wanna see him do it away from Reid since that's what people said about Tom for a long time too lol

Yeah, if they win 3 in a decade, I’m not sure how many sane (keyword) Pats fans would deny that they are a dynasty. I’m sure there are some old dudes with small dick energy that would say they aren’t because they didn’t win three in four years, or some such nonsense, but they would merely be a verbal minority.
I don't get why some Patriots fans are so threatened by the Chiefs. It's not like them winning erases what the Patriots did.

I do not hold a PhD in Logic, but Dr. Dingleberry sees a logical fallacy in your statement.

Player A - 7 Rings, not all-world "talent"

Player B - 5 Rings (or fewer), all-world "talent"

Anyone would logically say that IF Player A is not the GOAT, then Player B is a serious under achiever! Can you imagine having all world talent and finishing well behind someone lacking all world talent? That shit is embarrassing.

Here is where you have gone wrong. You do not consider the mental aspect of playing QB as part of a QB's talent. It's a lazy take echoed by some moronic football talking heads who don't understand why Brady kept winning. He's not that athletic, they say. They are not too bright.

Using your logic, if Josh Allen or Lamar Jackson win 1 SB, they are greater than Mahomes. After all, they are both more talented than Mahomes. But they are not! Mahomes has the mental part of playing QB well over either one of those two.

Mahomes wins 7, then we have a discussion.

Eh, just defending our guys. That’s all. Even if they won’t admit it on a message board, I’m sure the vast majority of us consider Mahomes elite. The GOAT talk with other QBs is just bound to continue. The object of affection simply went from Manning to Rodgers to Mahomes now.

There’s also some serious recency bias at all times, which is just human nature, and because sports players are usually progressive in terms of this generation achieving greater statistical feats than the last.

Mahomes currently has two Super Bowl wins. Two. We tend to think, in the moment, that these will just keep flowing in, but that almost never happens, especially in the NFL. Things change quickly.
