Louisiana, 1993 - England AFB. Little dorm BBQ party - lots of grub and an Everclear plugged watermelon. Went out the next day to clean up, and ants had moved in - except for a clearly defined area around that watermelon - they wanted no part of it.

A clear case of nature trying to tell the rest of something important.

hairy buffalo parties,we called them. garbage can (outdoor sized) lined with a bag. cut up fruit,kool aid and everclear in can. soak overnight. instant party!

I hate regular eggplant, but the Japanese eggplants don't have the bitterness problem that my taste buds find so offputting. I started growing the Ichiban version a few years ago, and I add more of it to my planting list every year. I was looking for different ways to use it, and this crossed my mind, and it earned rave reviews. I don't sub anything out. I just add one layer of this underneath a layer of the pasta.
