Too many wrestlers say the Bob Backlund was the strongest wrestler they'd ever seen.

How the hell Verne Gagme allowed Backlund to leave the AWA is beyond my ken.... Graham & Hogan, at least I can understand that: neither was his particular cup of tea regarding what a champion should look like... But Howdy Doody? He could've been Verne's own adopted step-child, a bigger & better version of Greg...

It was the way it was back then. Wrestlers were expected to bounce from region to region. Stay fresh.

Yep; Verne also "loaned" Flair to Mid-Atlantic in 1974; and he never returned either. Another home-town kid Verne let slip through his fingers...
