NFL General News

The Panthers will be without one of their key offensive players for at least four weeks.

Carolina is placing Adam Thielen on injured reserve after he suffered a hamstring injury during Sunday’s victory over the Raiders, according to multiple reports.

Thielen sustained the injury while catching a 31-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. He was not able to return to the contest.

But Thielen is expected to return to the field at some point in 2024...

Panthers to place Adam Thielen on injured reserve

Conveniently

Yeah.... I don't think anyone's still buying any kind of "It's just coincidence" narrative with regards to all the breaks the Chiefs have been getting in the past couple of years.

He’s a Matt Ryan level quarterback. He’s a good player, a sure franchise guy who is worth the money. He’s just overrated because QBs suck so bad making him a consensus top tier QB.

There are really only two quarterback playing at a consistent Hall of Fame level the last few years: Mahomes and Allen.
Mahomes been mid luckily for him he steps up in the playoffs

Yeesh. The season just keeps getting worse for them.

  1. Bengals ownership being Bengals ownership and cheaping out on contracts
  2. Bengals coaching being Bengals coaching and not having the team ready to play
  3. Bengals players undermining their fellow players by holding out to the last minute and then not being ready to go
  4. Steelers looking good even without a QB
  5. Ravens figuring out that running the ball with Derrick Henry and the running back who throws sometimes too is the way to win

Add the injuries, and you've got a perfect storm for a very disappointing season.

I at least feel like they can win some games to maybe get into the hunt. Tennessee and Jacksonville are awful from top to bottom.

The good news for some of the early disappointments is this:

If you look at the AFC right now, only 6 teams have a winning record,

Buffalo
NYJ
Pitt
Houston
KC
Chargers

and the Chargers have a QB dealing with a high ankle sprain. So, for example, Jacksonville still has a chance, but it has to do with the starting QB getting back on track, and we haven't seen any signs of that (and the remaining schedule is not conducive, though I could see the Jags dropping to 0-4 this week and then making a 3 game run leading up to a very difficult 4 game stretch). Meanwhile, a team like the Ravens might have figured out that they are still a running team, and Miami might (I say might, not will) get their QB back in time to make a push. Hell, even the Bengals could, conceivably, turn things around enough to get back on track.

But, looking at the rest of the AFC, we've got 6 teams that are probably already eliminated from playoff contention:

Patriots - (problems everywhere)
Browns - (Watson sucking)
Colts - (Richardson sucking)
Titans - (problems all over the place)
Broncos - (talent issues abound)
Raiders - (problems in a lot of places, not least of all at QB)

So, at least as of now, I see an AFC with 10 teams fighting for 7 playoff spots, and the Jaguars being the least likely of the 10 to gain a berth.
