The Panthers went into this week planning to start Andy Dalton at quarterback against the Lions, but a Tuesday car accident changed those plans.

Head coach Dave Canales told reporters at a Wednesday press conference that Dalton sprained his thumb in the accident, which is why he did not take part in practice earlier in the day. As a result of the injury, the Panthers plan to start Bryce Young this Sunday...

The Titans have made another trade.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that they are sending linebacker Ernest Jones to the Seahawks. Linebacker Jerome Baker and a fourth-round pick will be headed back to Tennessee.

Jones and a sixth-round pick were traded from the Rams to the Titans for a fifth-round pick before the start of the season. He has started five of the team’s six games this season and has 44 tackles, three tackles for loss, and two passes defensed...

Great move by the Chiefs. Hopkins had a good year despite his age and situation in 2023. It would've been nice if Bill Belichick approached the 2005 season with more urgency than he did. That was a lost opportunity in a weak league that season.

Didn't see this posted, interesting move and probably best for both teams. Darnold probably can't win a SB this year, but he's played well enough in the McVay system under O'Connell that he'd make sense for LA. Stafford get's another chance to win a SB with the Vikings who have their QB of the future on IR. So if this is true TNF is like the Stafford bowl.

...“We’ve been close for a really long time,” LaFleur said. “We were roommates together back at Central Michigan. Thought it was a good idea just to bring him here and he’s helping us on the offensive side of the ball. I think that’s always a good deal to have that perspective, you know, that defensive perspective on that side of the ball. Just taking a look at some of the things we’re doing.”...

...Yet, team owner John Mara is asking fans for patience. He is likely referring to Jones, about midway through the second season of a four-year, $160 million contract extension. New York can release Jones in the 2025 offseason prior to June 1 and save $19.4 million in cap space while incurring a $22.2 million dead cap hit. Currently, the Giants rank 30th in scoring offense (14.1 points per game) in 2024.

"We are not making any changes," Mara said, via ESPN, on Wednesday night after viewing "The Duke: Wellington Mara's Giant Life" airing on NFL Network on Friday.. He also felt the team hasn't been patient enough in past years as he remains committed to head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen...

Couldn't smoke the Lions pack. Darnold showed his limitations. Credit to the Lions though they're playing the best offensive football right now

Drake Maye would probably kill for that O-line.

Good news, bad news for the Vikings:

The Minnesota Vikings took a massive hit during their Week 8 Thursday night showdown against the Los Angeles Rams. Star left tackle Christian Darrisaw needs season-ending surgery after suffering a left knee injury during the 30-20 loss.

"I was holding out hope last night that the imaging would reveal a less significant injury, but unfortunately that is not the case. He did sustain a significant knee injury to his left knee, and it will require season-ending surgery. He will go on injured reserve today," Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said on Friday. "We'll determine the best course of action in regards to the procedure that will repair the injury. I know CD will be right back where he was this year, which was one of the best left tackles in football, playing at a really high level."...

The Vikings will use the roster spot created by moving tackle Christian Darrisaw to injured reserve to place Hockenson on the active roster on Friday, thus making him eligible to return in Week 9 against the Indianapolis Colts on "Sunday Night Football."

The Texans will miss at least three defensive starters for Sunday’s game against the Colts and possibly a fourth.

Previously, the Ravens announced that cornerback Nate Wiggins wouldn’t travel with the team. After that, they made it clear he won’t get there on his own.
