They extend him. What choice do they have? McCarthy? Too risky it seems to me; but I ass-ume they see him every day, so who knows?
He may see the writing on the wall though with the rookie in the wings and decide to take a better offer.if they really want to be safe they should franchise tag him. That's honestly in my opinion the better way to go anyhow.that way if they need to go to the rookie or Darnold regresses they just overpaid him for 1 year instead of a huge contract. Then they still have 2 years to see what McCarthy's got before they get into that fifth year and have to make a decision.
