NFL General News

At this point, you've got to wonder if this is a result of an inability to draw coaching candidates, and the answer "yes" is strongly indicated by the portion of the article that follows the quoted section below:

With a coaching search weeks underway, the Jaguars are making a significant change.

Trent Baalke will not continue as Jacksonville’s General Manager, the team announced on Wednesday.
“Following several discussions with Trent Baalke this week, we both arrived at the conclusion that it is in our mutual best interests to respectfully separate, effective immediately,” Jaguars owner Shad Khan said in a statement released by the team. “Trent leaves us with my deepest appreciation for his efforts over the past five seasons. Ethan Waugh will serve as interim general manager and play an important role, with others, as we continue the process of interviewing candidates to serve as our new head coach. I am deeply committed to building a winner here in Jacksonville and look forward to introducing a new head coach who will make that happen for our players and fans alike.”...

They've got their GM, too (Lance Newmark), but that hasn't been firmed up quite enough for some reporters, apparently:

Aaron Glenn began his NFL playing career with the Jets and he will begin his head coaching career with the same team.

According to multiple reports on Wednesday, Glenn has agreed to a deal to return to the team and succeed Robert Saleh at the helm of their coaching staff. That seems to be the general feeling on the airwaves around here. No surprise that Coen turned around within 24 hours of the firing and took the job. That is a dumpster fire of an organization.

At least the Raiders have a floor with Carroll at HC. They'll compete at the minimum

Gotta wonder if he'll look to scoop up Seahawks free agents and/or trade for those that might be dangled as bait.

Not sure why Slowik's getting the axe, given the injuries at WR, but I'm sure it'll come out:

The Texans have made a significant change to their coaching staff.

Houston has fired offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, according to multiple reports.

Slowik, 37, was praised for his work with quarterback C.J. Stroud during the 2023 season, helping the No. 2 overall pick of the draft earn AP offensive rookie of the year. But Stroud more than doubled his interceptions in 2024 and his passing numbers dipped significantly, despite playing in two fewer games. Houston finished at No. 19 in points scored and No. 22 in total yards in 2024 after being No. 13 and No. 12 in the same categories the previous season...
