Bill should have given up the GM duties the second Reese came in and helped him draft the second iteration of the franchise. As soon as Reese was gone and Bill was left to his own devices, the talent pipeline became badly depleted.

I got nothing to back this up - just a hot take, I guess - but I think BB was excellent at putting the list together, draft or FA potentials and pretty bad at selecting the ones that had the best shot of living up to that potential.

I don't recall the exact years those were.. I know Bill was worse the last chunk of years.. I'd say he still hit on some guys, especially on D, but the misses were really costly.

BB seemed to be streaky as a draft evaluator for most of his tenure, but he collapsed at the end.
