Patriots news

Did you know that they had Jacoby do the starting QB interview earlier today?
say it aint so, I bet he is curled up in a corner somewhere crying.....look if what you saying this coaching and staff is fucking this all up then i agree with you. So if that's the case then they will ruin this either way. sitting Maye until next year wont fix anything if this staff doesnt know what they are doing so were fucked either way

If they thought he was good to go, he'd have been starting week one.

When you realize that it's not about winning a couple more games in a season where you had no shot to do anything, maybe you'll figure this one out.
so then next season just tank again? so just shit the bed for 20 years?

47% pressure rate given up by the OL. That's the highest in almost 2 decades. And Maye took a pair of sacks, and additional pressures, in his only appearance of the season, so it's not as if he's guaranteed to change that.

And your last sentence makes no sense at all.

What the fuck are you talking about? What does having Maye start this week, or not having Maye start yet, have to do with tanking NEXT season?

you said its not about winning a couple more games. You seem to think next year this team will better suited for Maye. I'm saying it will be no different with this staff. So do we sit may next year also when the Line sucks and van pelt can script and game plan to save his life. Christ I'm just saying this team it Bad and its only getting worse. they need Help and they need to at least see if this kid can play. the other 3 rookie QB's are all 3-2 and getting good experience. Maye sitting and watching the worst QB play in the league will do nothing for his future. Even when brissett has time or someone open he cant make the play

Thing is he is going to struggle alot no denying that. But lets see how he handles it. if he ends up being soft well the he's not the guy.

you said its not about winning a couple more games.

Of course it's not.

You seem to think next year this team will better suited for Maye.

It should be. Whether it is or not will depend upon multiple factors

I'm saying it will be no different with this staff.

Of course it will be different.

So do we sit may next year also when the Line sucks and van pelt can script and game plan to save his life.

If they're picking top 5, they're getting a LT

Christ I'm just saying this team it Bad and its only getting worse.

There's a 99% chance that you're wrong, as long as Maye doesn't suck

they need Help and they need to at least see if this kid can play.

Help is not coming this season, and there are still 12 games left to play in the season.

the other 3 rookie QB's are all 3-2 and getting good experience.

This is the sort of silliness that many of us tried to warn against before the season started.

Maye sitting and watching the worst QB play in the league will do nothing for his future.

That is as asinine statement.

Even when brissett has time or someone open he cant make the play

That is irrelevant.

and just so you know i do agree with alot of what you post and think you are a major asset to this site. I'm not that guy that wants to argue or just does it to be a dick.

Here's my issue with what's being posted, and what's been said and done:

We all knew that this is what was going to happen this year. We all knew that the team was going to blow. We all knew the line was going to be terrible. We all knew the WRs were going to be bad. We all knew that the coaching staff was green and would make a lot of mistakes. We all knew that Maye was developmentally behind, even though he's got talent.

And yet, like children, a bunch of fans and media members (and maybe coaches and owners) couldn't make it through week 5 without stomping their feet and demanding to get their way at the expense of the understood plan for the QB.

It's stupid. It's needless. It's needlessly endangering the plan. And the same people who've been crying because Maye wasn't in will be crying about the coaches sucking if Maye struggles, and will be crying that the coaches waited too long if Maye does well. The whiny little bitches have won, and that's embarrassing.

Play calling was awful this last game, they were gashing miami on the ground.. they should've kept that up all game. I bet they return to that model in this coming game with Maye though, and they should include a few designed runs for him.

Dan has been against starting Drake from the beginning, so this isn't about him breaking out some shocking opinion. It's about the "why" in the article:

It’s unclear what went into the decision to start Maye at this point in the season, but Dan Orlovsky is someone who isn’t a fan of putting the No. 3 overall pick in.

“Absolutely not. This is a bad decision in New England. One, their offensive line is the worst pass-blocking offensive line in the NFL. Right now, it is the worst. Jacoby Brissett, who has been their starting quarterback, he has been pressured on 47% of his dropback passes,” the former NFL quarterback said Tuesday on “NFL Live.” “That 47% is the highest number for a quarterback since 2006. You want to take a rookie quarterback and set him up to struggle? Put him behind this New England offensive line.
“On top of that, it’s a bottom probably five or six group wide-receiver-wise when it comes to getting open. There’s a couple things I always say young quarterbacks need to go play well and survive. They need to have a really good scheme and play-caller,” Orlovsky continued. “Alex Van Pelt, I like his scheme, there’s been moments when he’s shown to be a good play-caller, still unknown. Really good offensive line, really good skill players. Again, New England has at least two of those three missing. This is not the right choice.”...

‘Not the right choice:’ Ex-NFL QB blasts Patriots for starting Drake Maye

I hope Maye is brilliant, and I hope that this panic move turns out to be the right one for Maye's development despite it pretty clearly not being the planned move, but I'm not the only one who sees the issues here. And the above issues aren't even close to being all of them.

put me down as SEVERELY against starting maye. how severely? i used capital letters for gawdsake! 😄

Should have happened week 1. This definitely wasn't a panic move. If anything, they showed a complete lack of urgency in the first month of the season. But at least they made the right decision and we don't have to wait until late in the season or 2025.

I guess that is why brisket did not know he had been demoted until the day of the announcement.

This is classic spin and revisionist history by the pats.

According to Mayo (during his press conference):

Mayo didn't tell the QBs until last night, and he didn't tell the team until this morning. And that means that he did send Jacoby to the QB1 interview with Jacoby thinking he was still the starter.

This is a fucking clown show we're watching.

Someone lied to Kyed, and Kyed ran with it.
Not really. Defensive coaches and various players were gushing over him a couple of weeks ago, and the team was on the verge of a mutiny had they not made the right decision and named Maye the starter.

Just sit back and watch Maye work. This will be a 20 year ride that you will not want to get off of.

Not really.

Yes, really. If the plan had been to pull the plug/trigger after the Miami game, there would have been no need for any meetings with coaches or executives.
