The Jets just got done sharing a division with Tom Brady going 12-4/14-2 every season for twenty million years. I still maintain the Thanksgiving 2012 game literally destroyed them as franchise for a full decade, and that they didn’t spiritually recover from the moral blow to the soul that was that game until like last year.
Now we’re in 2024 and they literally have no leadership at any level. They have ownership worse than Dallas. Their QB is the furthest thing from a symbol of inspiration. They’ve made plain its a revolving door at Head Coach, and you could get fired on a whim, especially if Rodger’s is under center.
The reign of Patriot terror is finally over, and the Jets are less prepared than the Patriots to take advantage. No serious coach would want to take that job and walk into that shit show that’s somehow also surrounded by actual expectations.
Rex Ryan, amazingly, is probably their best bet. He would at least probably make it fun for the players, which is a start, unless he’s just completely over the hill.
Drake Maye could soon be one of the best Quarterbacks in the AFC. Josh Allen is one of the best Quarterbacks in the AFC. Not having to burn draft capital on the QB position is a serious luxury in this league and the Jets have barely ever experienced it.
Franchise seems completely fucked for a very long time to come. Rodger’s Cap-Hell. Zero leadership. Zero culture. Zero direction.
It looks like they have so much foundational repair that needs to be done, they almost may as well just hire Rex Ryan.
