All things Belichick

So.... just to be clear, here.

The people railing against Kraft for allegedly saying bad shit about BB are doing so because the same shitraker claiming the information, which is obviously spotty and/or misleading, got the information from the Belichick camp. And Belichick is getting a pass on this?

my being pissed comes with an "if he said this,i am pissed" because the sources are who they are. i'm def. not thrilled if bb himself is leaking stuff but at least most of it has seemed to be as a response to the kraft stuff. the stuff from kraft's side also seems more touchy feely than factual. like they don't trust him...feel betrayed...why?

If that's what this is, I'll consider it payback for that joke of a documentary produced by Kraft. And it's not enough payback.

I guess I just don't see this from the same perspective you do. I don't get the sympathy for BB. Belichick let his ego get out of control and drove the team into the ground, and I've got no problem with him getting called out over it. He survived numerous firing offenses, even while his behavior/decision making was obviously getting worse over the years. The man doesn't deserve teflon coverage at this point.

And, seriously, people are taking Wickersham at his word in terms of being completely accurate about how a rumored conversation went word for word, when the statements came from non-participants who have neither the exact words nor the context. That's insane. But, in this case, even if Kraft did say something legitimately problematic in the eyes of Blank, the argument against Kraft really comes down to "How dare Bob tell the 100% already publicly known truth about BB being a cold, arrogant pain in the ass who can be difficut to work with!", and I just can't find any reason to roast a mentally declining old man over that.

Let's say I agree with this.

I have a hair across my ass for Kraft because of that Dynasty documentary. That should have been a celebration for the fans to watch, while still hitting on the controversies and down moments of the 20 years.

Kraft used it for a vendetta. Every player involved in that documentary has spoken out against it.

I fucking loathe the Red Sox. And I was a huge Sox fan as a kid. But they are dead to me. It helps that I grew out of any interest in watching baseball anyway. My hatred started with the woke ownership. I wasn't paying attention at the time, but I remember hearing about what they did to Francona after he left. Pussy passive aggressive shit to win a PR battle with the fans that wasn't even necessary. This is what Kraft did. I am disgusted by it.

This is in no way a defense of Belichick's last few years or an argument that he shouldn't be fired. Kraft did not need to show his little man insecurities. Most of the fan base still loves Belichick. Even if he was a dick, Kraft should have taken the high road.

And I'm not paying your fucking legal fees for this talk!

I get what you're saying. I grew up with baseball as my favorite sport. Only hockey came close. And I haven't invested a single penny, watched a single full game on TV, or paid to attend a single game, since they took away the World Series.

My point is that people are attacking Kraft for allegedly saying shit that everyone already knows about BB, even though we don't even have the actual context or the actual statements. I mean, seriously, if you're the former boss of BB, and Blank asks you about the guy, you're conversation is going to be summed up as follows:

Belichick''s a cold fish, an arrogant prick, and a pain in the all who's gotten more stubborn with age. He rides his players as much as any coach in the game, and even he admits that he's tough to play for. But he's the greatest coach of our era (or all-time, depending upon your G.O.A.T. rankings).

And, if you don't make that your conversation, the man you're talking to is going to know that you're trying to blow smoke up his ass.

As for the "He said you can't trust him" accusation, it's such a blanket claim that it's meaningless.

I am piling on with this latest "conspiracy" for sure.

It's the Dynasty documentary that has me pissed.

Kraft could have at least done the poor bastard a solid. The guy gave him 23 years and presided over 6 Super Bowl wins. My guess would be that Kraft respects Blank a ton to be that brutally honest. I’ve had to give hiring assessments to other companies for some of my former colleagues and direct reports, and I usually highlight the positives they bring while glossing over the downsides, or not even mentioning them. The only time I’ve ever been brutally honest is when I know the other manager calling me, personally, and I want to help him stay away from a situation that could be a pain in the ass.

If this is a one-off? It’s hard to get mad at Kraft. If this a continuous attempt to blackball Belichick, then fuck that and fuck him. The guy probably has two more years of coaching left and wants to hold the record for wins.

You and a lot of other people, no question about that.
Deus, I think if you polled people 'Did Belichick deserve to get fired', just that question, with no context, you'd get a pretty large majority saying he should. As a """"""""Belichick Camp Guy""""""""" myself, I fall into that category. His time was up, you can't go 4-13 after a losing season and expect to keep your job, I don't give a fuck who you are.

What's pissing people off, is the Krafts victory lap in the media, day after day, pissing on the guy's grave like he was Hue Jackson or something. You fire him, thank him for his time here, and move on. That's what you do.

All this other stuff does is make people sympathetic to Belichick, and do a lot of damage to the Krafts, because it comes off as if the billionaires think the fans are fucking retards, and don't remember anything from the previous 25 years, and make sure to renew those season tickets.

Wickersham is a sensationalist moron, and anyone who takes his words as gospel are equally as moronic. Same for Breer, Tomase, Shaughnessy, anyone else who has tried to stir the muck in the interim.

You can think Wickersham is a toolbag, and that the Krafts are pricks, and still think Belichick deserved to get fired, and still remember that he actually did some good things while he was here. In fact, I feel like that's where most people fall. I don't think there's any hypocrisy in that position.

If you think Belichick was bad at drafting, that's an opinion. And it will get borne out on draft day on the McAfee show. However, I'll be tuning in, because that dude forgot more about football this morning than I'll ever know in my entire life, and that's also a position I think most people hold too.
