All things Belichick

I thought he made Brady so miserable he had to leave? why would Brady want to inflict him on the team he has ownership of?

They made peace in that widely publicized post-game meeting, when Brady came back to New England as a member of the Buccaneers.

ya sure brady hated him so much and left to play else where that a 30 min Convo after a game made it all better. Man it sure seems like kraft is the 1 who really fucked this all up now doesnt it :)

Not even a little. There's no question that it was BB.

Where's Ian when you need him?

Business v Personal ... Both of them can accept the diference

The thing is, it began back even before BB drafted JAG. That "We all know Tom's age...." press conference might have been the first public sign of it, but it's clear that it was happening even before that.

And that's why I laugh when people try to pin it on either Brady or Kraft. It was, realistically, 100% BB

I would be absolutely stunned if the ravens do not blow the steelers out of the water.the steelers suck.

I have a different take:

If the Steelers "great" rookie WR hadn't dropped 5 passes in that game, it could easily have been Pittsburgh with the win.

i see your point on that game. but they're on a 4 game skid.

...The plan seemed sound back in the early days of 2023. Mayo had garnered outside interest for a couple of head-coaching vacancies, and Kraft, who thought Mayo was destined to be a successful head coach, didn’t want to see any more brain drain from Belichick’s staff. So he put a succession plan in writing with Mayo and Belichick. Mayo would take over in 2025 after Belichick had two more years at the helm, giving the man in the hoodie ample time, they thought, to break Don Shula’s record for career wins. In turn, Belichick would mentor Mayo on various aspects of the head job to prepare him to take over.
But 2023 was a disaster from the get-go. The Patriots started the season 1-5 and 2-10. Belichick, always an insular coach, further withdrew during that season amid his team’s struggles, according to team sources with knowledge of the situation. He stopped talking altogether to multiple members of his already small coaching staff, cutting off communication with anyone perceived to be less than entirely loyal to him.

His relationship with Kraft was already tense as the pressure grew on the owner to make a change after another bad season following the departure of Tom Brady. Belichick’s tight circle shrunk even more. Along the way, the mentorship that was supposed to occur between Belichick and Mayo never happened...

Pickens was out for the first 2 of those games, and ineffective in the 2 after his return (Just 3 catches on 7 targets against the Chiefs, then last week's disastrous 6 target, 1 catch, 0 yards performance.

They'd won 7 of 8, including the win against the Ravens where Pickens had 12 targets for 8 catches and 89 yards, before that happened.

I'm not saying that the Steelers are a lock, or anything. I'm just noting that the Steelers' late season issues track with Pickens' issues.

i think there's a bigger problem when one inconsistent wide receiver being there or not is the difference between being on a 4 game slide or winning 2 of 4.
I didn't watch all of their games obviously but from what it seems Russell Wilson's performance tailed off a little bit after he started off really well. Or other defenses got the book on him in a steeler's uniform.

It's a depth issue that happens to a lot of teams, particularly over the course of time. In this case:

Pittsburgh's offense is built around the running backs, Pickens, and Freiermuth, and it had the team at 10-3 before Pickens went down. Ignoring the rushing, here are the team's top receivers (noted as targets/catches):

Pickens 103/59 (90/55 before the injury)
Freiermuth 78/65
Austin 58/36
Harris 48/36
Warren 47/28
Van Jefferson 40/24

The steelers offense as long as I can remember has been great between the 20s and sucks in the red zone. Usually their defense has been good enough to make up for that.i think this is the biggest reason they suck right now.

The turnover pace is roughly the same, and the rest is all at least partially based upon the offense's inability to hold up its end, thus putting the defense out there more.
