All things Belichick

Not really. His age is a limit. The last 4+ seasons in N.E. is a limit. His control demands are a limit. And, when you toss those into the mix, and there are only a few openings available each you, you end up with a very limited number of possibilities.

We allegedly saw that with the Falcons where, according to reports, the owner was talked out of hiring BB by people who were worried that they'd be out if BB was brought in.
Yeah. It is for sure a combo of things but for a guy with 6 SB rings to be out of the NFL altogether is definitely a head scratcher. I really don't see his age as an issue as most owners will mortgage their the future for a SB ring. There is talk of Carrol going to the Bears and he is older than Bill. I think his last 4 years in NE were the nail in the casket along with letting Brady walk.

Why? Pete Carroll is out of a job, too. Go look up NFL coaching ages, and you'll find that the age alone should eliminate any head scratching.

Not when you have six SB rings.

bb can be an asshole. vrabel too. Fans of other teams used to ask me is bill an asshole or is he a nice guy? and I would say yes. and they would say what does that mean? I'd say he can be an asshole and he can be a good guy. he's multi dimensional . if you were ever in a relationship with him you'd likely think he's an asshole unless you're his current girlfriend. He's not what you'd call the marrying kind or the most faithful guy in the world. But he's done countless nice things for his past players and coaches etc. when they were playing/coaching for him or not also. people are seldom one-dimensional.

I'm listening to the talking heads orlovsky and not listening to Mina kimes because I can't stand her about Josh McDaniels possibly coming back to the Patriots and orlovsky's carping about does he know anything about the mondern offenes?RPOs blah blah blah. and I sat there and I thought to myself wasn't it Belichick who consulted with chip Kelly and brought all those college offense principals into the NFL about 10 years ago and that's the reason their offense was so good and absolutely perp walked a lot of defenses? yes it was! so I don't want to hear any more shit about how bill is some old fuck who can't adapt to anything. And Josh was the offensive coordinator that he had that implemented all of that.

Because outside of Paul Brown, there has never been an adaptive scheme-thinker at Belichick's level, and that goes back decades.

The recency bias + media bias combo really lends itself to a lot of sports guys saying a lot of stupid things. So let me sum up my point like htis:

Just as with basketball, the recent NFL adjustments have mostly been either neutral or bad. Whether it's turning the NBA into an glorified game of drive and shoot, or it's turning the NFL into a 7-on-7 mediocrity that churns out disappointing "high ceiling" QBs that don't actually have high ceilings, the system changes are not only overrated, but are really subject to massive correction if any teams decide to push hard in the opposite direction (and we're seeing this already in the NFL with the return of the power run game).
