Thanks @LordSensei1958 for the updates. It makes my work day so much better than trying to scroll thru Twitter. I just refresh these threads and have all the NFL transactions.
All-Pro cornerback Christian Gonzalez is ready to get to work with veteran Carlton Davis, who is expected to sign with the New England Patriots in free agency.
Cornerback was considered a position of need heading into the offseason, and the Patriots made a splash when addressing it by agreeing to a three-year, $54 million deal with one of the best pending free agent players at the position.
Gonzalez and Davis together would instantly give the Patriots one of the most formidable cornerback duos in the league. Despite the team's struggles last season, Gonzalez was still one of the best players in the league at his position with 59 tackles, 11 pass deflections and two interceptions.
Davis finished his 2024 campaign with the Detroit Lions with 56 tackles, two interceptions and 11 pass deflections. Gonzalez responded to the move in an Instagram story.
It will be fun to see how Davis and Gonzalez feed off each other in the defensive backfield. They could form a dominant pairing that will strike fear into the hearts of opposing offenses. The defensive secondary in New England should get significantly better with Davis in the mix.
