NFL Roster Transactions

Yeah that about sums it up. I think it'll end up being Polk/Baker, and if he has improved and miraculously makes the team Thornton. I'm saying this as the player who lines up at X, not becomes the defacto #1... Thornton obviously can't become that, maybe Polk/Baker can.

Yeah.... I'm sure I'm one of the very few, but I don't really give a damn about Maye for this season. Frankly, I'd love for him to ride the pine all year long, and learn while not getting ruined. Overall, I'm much more interested in

I want Maye to start by mid-season. I have tickets for the Pats @ Cardinals in December.....want to see our new QB play by then...

They are going to run an outside-zone-run offense (reportedly), and I would wager we run the ball A LOT. I'm fine with Maye sitting, but if the line comes together and plays well I would expect we see him before the end of the season. I like your list.

I'm hoping he starts against the Jets October 27 Week 8 when I go.

I've been preaching this over at Patfans, but it's not registering with posters. All I get is that they have an elite defense - which they do not.
Pass Rusher2
Maybe Mayo won't play the musical chairs with Uche and he has a bounce back season. If not, the pass rush will be relied upon Barmore inside and Judon outside.

They aren't quick enough at RB. I don't think Rham is a good fit for that.

I can't remember the last time we had a consistent cover LB. For 20 years I've been cringing whenever I see a RB wheel and a jersey with 5X on it is covering.

Since I've been watching in the 90's, the Pats defense wasn't built to cover in the passing game. Ted Johnson had talked about how lucky he was to play in an era that focused on the running the football and mentions if he had to cover in the passing game, he'd be out of the league. I think he also mentioned that Bill would scheme as much as possible to keep LB's out of covering much.

The last LB that could cover in the passing game was Adalius Thomas in 2007.

That would be ok, or at least understandable, if they were still running a 3-4 and had, say, a Colvin level cover guy or two out on the field. But they've long since moved past that sort of thing.
