In what is perhaps the most perfect superhero casting since Patrick Stewart took the role of Professor X in X-Men, Jason Momoa has just made millions of comic book fans extremely happy. After years of suggesting that he could take on the role of DC anti-hero Lobo, it appears that Momoa will indeed become Lobo in the upcoming DCU reboot of Supergirl.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Momoa has been cast in the upcoming film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and will star opposite Milly Alcock who will play the title role of Supergirl/Kara Zor-El.

In DC Comics, Lobo is a foul-mouthed alien bounty hunter who was created as a kind of parody of similarly bad-tempered antiheroes in other comic book titles. (In some cases, Lobo was intended as a parody of Marvel's Wolverine.) But, because Lobo was so well-liked among readers, and some of the satire was misread, the character became bigger than ever within DC; with his popularity peaking in the 1990s.

Although Momoa has already played Aquaman in several previous DC movies, the latest iteration of the DCU doesn't prevent him from playing Lobo now. In a sense, this is just like when Chris Evans played Captain America in 2011, despite having previously played Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four in 2005. And, perhaps most interestingly, Momoa is a huge Lobo fan himself and has been campaigning to play the character for several years.

In a 2023 interview with Fandango, Momoa admitted that in his comic-collecting days, Lobo was "always my favorite." At the time, he mentioned that if DC ever called for him to play Lobo, "I'm there."

Now, Momoa has confirmed the news from The Hollywood Reporter on his own Instagram. He's shared a snippet from that 2023 interview, and simply added: "They called."

The last person to play Lobo in live-action was Emmett J. Scanlan, who portrayed the character in the 2018-2019 prequel series Krypton. But, for fans of the 1980s and 1990s DC comics, the casting of Momoa is a chef's kiss. With Superman hitting in 2025 and Supergirl set for 2026, this new crop of DC movies keeps getting better and better.

I finished Yellowstone when the last episodes came out recently.. meh, Sucks Costner/Sheridan couldn't work their shit out. Not that i would put this up against some of the recent great shows, but it mirrors a few of the recent ending's that were really subpar compared to the rest of the series.

Anywho I started watching the 1923 prequal and that's pretty solid. I'm just digging westerns right now. Interestingly Kevin Costner's Horizon Part 1 is on Netflix, I will definitely watch that here soon. The trailer looked good, just need to carve out 3 hours,.

Next up on the list will be Godzilla Minus one.. Only because I had a dream/nightmare about a giant sea monster/godzilla type thing, it was out to sea and crazy a fuck.. but it was in the morning so I was lucid.. it was awesome. So I looked into the Godzilla movies later that day and saw this one on Netflix, trailer looks cool.

Got a copy of it for Christmas. I'm looking forward to kicking back and watching it soon.
