I keep coming back to taco salad as the GOAT meal for reasonable calories, high protein, tastes as good as any junk food. Even with a good amount of sour cream and cheese, if you eat this without a taco shell, it is shockingly macro friendly and even makes you feel both light and satisfied. Chicken is extremely favorable with protein / calories but lean ground beef is decent too.

If you eat it without a taco shell, it's not a taco salad.

I’m hitting my max on the 75 lbs dumbbells and 60 lbs curl bars at Planet Fitness and also like variety, so I got a membership today at 24 Hour Fitness. I think it’s a good price…22.50 per month (paid a year upfront for better deal.) GM also waived annual fee. There are 5-6 locations that are all about 15 minutes from me, and this membership included access to all of them.

I don’t love this gym chain because the equipment is old and always beaten up, and it’s pretty dirty too, but at least I have a lot more options now. One of the locations has a hip thrust machine as well. They also have a lot of classes if I want to go to them.

Oh wow, this lady was serious. I can’t imagine this visually.

I’m doing a variation of PPL now (Push - Pull - Legs.).

Push is chest, shoulders, and triceps.

Pull is back (upper and lower), rear delts, and triceps.

Personally I don’t like that popular split very much. I prefer this rotarion: Arms, Torso, Legs.

Arms - Biceps, Triceps, Brachialis, Wrists

Torso - Shoulders, Chest, Back

Legs - Glutes, Calves, Thighs (hamstrings, quads, or both). I use the same as the Legs in PPL on this.

I like the arms/torso variation better because I find there’s too much overlap with push/pull from one day to the next. A lot of chest, shoulder, and back exercises run together. Most presses (bench, incline, overhead) work all three. Most compounds do as well. Dips, pullups, pushups, primarily work those three groups.

Arms are all pure isolation exercises, and with the right form, you shouldn’t be using your back or shoulders.

Instant potatoes (which are delicious and include flavoring) are 110 calories per serving. Add water, two (220 calories) servings fills one of those standard paper coffee cups about 2/3…a good portion to enjoy.

You’re not getting a lot of protein from this, but if you get night cravings, then trading a few hundred calories for a long period of satiety is a great deal.

Pasta and rice are two huge carb, huge calorie staples. If you’re trying to gain weight they’re great. If you’re trying to lose weight or struggling to maintain your weight, these are the most overrated foods ever. Spaghetti sauce with meat is delicious, it tastes almost the same; the pasta itself doesn’t even taste that great even though the texture is nice. Rice is added to like every Asian dish.

If you just eat a normal meal, meat, cheese, and spaghetti sauce is like 300-400 calories. The pasta makes it like 800 calories. Rice is the same, adding like 400 calories. Not much protein in them either.

This is just a basic, simple way to reduce calories while still eating good, normal food.

After having a high protein diet since February, I feel great and I’m starting to put on some serious muscle mass. That said, after heading to the bar for Florida/Miami, I consumed $27 of Taco Bell for the first time in 6 months and shit myself the next day.
