NFL Breaking News "Hip drop" tackle banned

I'm not a fan of that tackle. Not sure who started this type of tackle, but it is pretty cheap. Just imagine you're running full speed and having someone lasso around your waist from behind and pulling your weight to the ground.

Problem is there's no way to correctly enforce it objectively

This is the NFL banning a tackle that was made important by the NFL banning other things. You can only hit a certain way, from a certain angle, etc..., and every time they limit those ways and angles, it necessitates the sort of change that led to the newly banned tackle.

Can't lunge high. Can't lunge low. Can't grab the collar. And so on, and so on...

Yep. They should just walk back all of this - “defenseless” receivers, helmet to helmet, all that stuff, instead of doubling down. They seem bound and determined to ruin the game.

I get the safety and whatever but part of the NFL lore is the violence and you can't tell me otherwise. That's why they get paid handsomely

Exactly. These guys know what they’re getting into when they sign the dotted line. It’s a violent game. They are free to enter another career if they choose.

NFL is the final sport I watch full time. And is one of only a couple sports I watch at all.

This is just another tiny step toward my inevitable divorce from NFL and sports altogether.

I'll still be here for 153 and Politics at least.
