Still need to hit a home run with the WRs coach choice.
Mike Vrabel isn’t wasting time. The moment he stepped into the Patriots’ headquarters, it was clear that New England wouldn’t be the same under his watch. After years of dominance under Bill Belichick, the franchise had crumbled into mediocrity, and Vrabel—one of Belichick’s fiercest disciples—was handed the job of bringing it back to life. But reviving the Patriots isn’t just about Xs and Os; it’s about tearing down the old guard, brick by brick. And that’s exactly what he’s doing.
The latest shocker? Brian Belichick, the son of the legendary coach, is out. After nine years with the team, the younger Belichick has announced his departure, a move that signals the franchise’s full-fledged transition away from its past. While Brian hasn’t publicly revealed his next move, speculation is already swirling—will he reunite with his father, Bill, wherever he lands? Or did Vrabel simply decide that carrying on the Belichick legacy wasn’t part of his master plan?
And Brian isn’t the only casualty. Mike Pellegrino, the Patriots’ longtime cornerbacks coach, is also gone. Tom Pelissero of NFL Network broke the news, confirming that the assistant coach—who was part of two Super Bowl-winning teams—will not return in 2025. Pellegrino had been a key figure in the Patriots' defensive staff for nearly a decade, coaching three All-Pros in the secondary. But with Vrabel reshaping his staff, there was no room for familiarity or sentimentality. He’s setting a new standard, and anyone tied too closely to the old regime is on thin ice.
It’s a ruthless overhaul, but for Patriots fans, it might just be the medicine the team needs. The hiring of Terrell Williams as defensive coordinator was already a statement move, signaling Vrabel’s intent to rebuild the defense from the ground up. Now, with longtime assistants heading for the exits, the message is clear—this is Vrabel’s team now, and he’s not looking back.
Patriots fans have been craving a return to relevance, and Vrabel is making the tough calls to get them there. But the real question remains: will these changes bring New England back to glory, or is this just the beginning of an even longer road to redemption? One thing’s for sure—this Patriots offseason isn’t just another chapter. It’s the start of an entirely new book.

Bill's other kid and the lacrosse player from Johns Hopkins were way overrated by way too many people. Time to give Real experience a chance now.
Bill's other kid would have been a definite upgrade over Covington, at least. He might even have been enough of a difference maker to save Mayo's job (probably not, but maybe).
I was referring to Brian.
That would be a good move
