NFL GameDay Official Super Bowl LIX thread

Also, I just want to gloat for a moment over being right about this Chiefs team all along. They were carried by the officials all season, and got lucky on special teams in 2 games on top of that. That same thing continued in the playoffs. Then, once the officials weren't enough to offset the opponent's superiority, reality set in and that Chiefs team got smoked like sausage.

They were a fraud team. They were the 2006 Bears, but not as good.

Bingo. I said similar thing earlier. Total paper tiger all season.

Tom Brady had the greatest flex moment, dragging the nut sack across everyone's face moment last night. I don't even recall how he finished the sentence. But the first six words were pure FLEX.

"In my first nine Super Bowls....". 😂😂😂😂

Under normal circumstances, the Eagles had the better team at just about every position outside of QB. I’d have gone with them had I not suspected that the game would be rigged. The NFL crowbarred them into the 1-seed and through the divisional and championship rounds.

Part of Cowherd's take was comparing how Brady handled the Legion of Boom with how Mahomes completely failed to handle the Eagles' defense, and talking about how Brady played when he had the lesser team versus Mahomes in the same situation.

And even just doing the statistical comparison is strong in Brady's favor.

Cowherd has always loved Brady. Obsessively. I haven't listened to him in several years though.

I recall the early dynasty Patriots used to win a lot of close games and win by making timely plays, but even the 2001 Patriots had a point differential of +99. The 2003 team was +110.

The Chiefs run is bordering on statistical impossibility with a +59 this year and losing only one (real) game before the SB massacre.

What’s odd isn’t just the high number of close wins against good competition but the number of close wins against everyone, including bottom feeders. The old Patriots used to frustrate other teams fanbases by winning by small margins but those games were supposed to be tight.

Guys using “on pace” stuff like “Mahomes is 3-2 in Super Bowls at age 29; Brady was 3-2 in Super Bowls at age 34.”…

Do they honestly think Mahomes is going to play at a high level into his 40s? Because he’s already in decline. This has been obvious even before this game. A running QB approaching 30, being in decline, isn’t a hot take.

Not saying he’ll fall off a cliff but I’ll be surprised if he’s still playing (anywhere near elite) at age 36/37. Needing to win 4-5 championships in 7 years (highly improbable) is quite different than 13 years.

They're in for a rude awakening when they realize TB12 prime was in his 30s lol
