NFL GameDay Official Super Bowl LIX thread

GameDay Discussion
Kansas City Chiefs superstar wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins didn’t mince words on the performance of the NFL officials following the team’s ugly Super Bowl 59 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

DeAndre Hopkins and the Chiefs were no match for Jalen Hurts and the Eagles, who cruised to a 40-22 victory to deny Kansas City the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat. It was a quiet day for “Nuk”, who finished the night with just two catches for 18 yards and a touchdown.

The NFL officials were a hot topic going into Super Bowl 59, thanks mainly to the Chiefs benefiting from questionable calls in the Divisional Round (vs. Houston Texans) and AFC Championship Game (vs. Buffalo Bills).

But with the Chiefs losing in blowout fashion, Ron Torbert and his crew mostly avoided public scrutiny and backlash. Still, the 18-point loss didn’t stop DeAndre Hopkins from criticizing the refs after the game, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk:

“It’s my first year being with the Chiefs, and I saw a lot of things in the media about the refs, but…what y’all gonna say now about the refs and us when there was a lot of touchy calls? Are y’all gonna report that? Are y’all gonna talk about the refs now?”

There was a questionable call against Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie, who was penalized for unnecessary roughness on tight end Dallas Goedert following an incomplete pass on third down. The fresh set of downs led to Hurts’ rushing TD to open the scoring:

DeAndre Hopkins & Chiefs Can’t Blame Refs For Lopsided Loss

At the end of the day, the Chiefs can only blame themselves for losing by 18 points. Patrick Mahomes had arguably the worst game of his career. Travis Kelce was a no-show, along with the entire offensive line. And it’s not like the KC defense did its part to keep the team in the game.

Surprisingly stupid comments from Hopkins. He looks so intelligent.

The Philadelphia Eagles humbled Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

Mahomes finished with 257 passing yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions on Sunday, although that stat sheet is a bit misleading since much of his damage was done after the game was already over.

The fan base decided to rub it in even more.

If there’s one thing Philly sports fans will do, it’s party hard and disrespecting their opponents.

Several videos shared online showed a chaotic scene as fans celebrated the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl LIX victory against the Kansas City Chiefs in downtown Philadelphia.

Eagles fans immediately poured into the streets of Philadelphia to celebrate on Sunday night. One fan ripped down traffic lights and carried them through the streets.

That wasn’t all, as Philadelphia Eagles fans also burned a Kermit puppet. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has often been compared to looking like the popular Muppet.

Philadelphia Eagles Fans Chanted “F–k Taylor Swift” After Super Bowl Victory

There apparently is some “Bad Blood” between Eagles fans and Taylor Swift that won’t soon be forgotten.

After the Philadelphia faithful booed Swift at Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans, the fans back home decided to keep it going by taking it even further.

Eagles fans were recorded chanting “F–k Taylor Swift.”

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes spoke as if Sunday’s heartbreaking Super Bowl 59 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles marked the final game of Travis Kelce’s illustrious career.

The Chiefs’ bid for a three-peat ended with an ugly 40-22 loss to the Eagles in Super Bowl 59, a game that saw Mahomes get sacked six times to go along with two interceptions (including a pick-six). Kelce was also a non-factor with just four receptions for 39 yards.

Speaking to reporters after the Super Bowl 59 blowout, Mahomes raved about Travis Kelce in a way that suggests the superstar tight end is planning to retire, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport:

“I’ll let Travis make that decision on his own, man. He’s given so much to this team and to the NFL and been such a joy, not only for me to work with but for people to watch. He knows he still has a lot of football left in him. You can see it…He’s done enough to be a gold jacket guy and a first-ballot Hall of Famer…He’ll get to spend some time with his family and make that decision on his own.”

Rapoport reported on Saturday night that Travis Kelce hasn’t made a decision about his playing future, with sources telling him that the Super Bowl 59 outcome could impact his decision

Travis Kelce Had A Down 2024 Season

The 35-year-old Kelce certainly didn’t look like his usual self in 2024, as he caught just 97 passes for 823 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season. In the playoffs, Kelce caught 13 passes for 175 yards and a touchdown.

Kelce has nothing to prove as a three-time Super Bowl champion, but does he want Sunday’s blowout loss to be his final NFL game? Stay tuned.
