Patriots news

And how much of that would have stunted Demario Douglas?

And I keep saying it, but no one wants to believe it's a thing. This guy cost them the playoffs last year, with a heroball play that Josh Allen would have been proud of. And they all know it. I'm not sure there was a scenario where he could come back.

You can keep saying it, but it'll just keep being inaccurate. Don't be that guy. If Jakobi just gets tackled instead of turning the ball over, that doesn't mean the Patriots win. It just means that the game goes to overtime.

Why would either Belichick take a demotion?
It beats working at Taco Bell

Where else are they going to work if Dad is out of the league this year?

That's not how it works. You know that. You should try the Joe Murray approach next, and give us a wildly misleading set of claims about offensive coordinators in order to blame Mac.
Who is Joe Murray?

Yes. It means they don't *lose* the game, specifically from his heroball play.

Don't be that guy, and pretend it didn't happen, or that it had no impact on his being here or elsewhere.

I dunno, 11 years in the league, co-coordinating a pretty successful defense, I imagine they'll be getting calls. Unless you're one of those 'it's just nepotism' people, then I don't know what to tell you.

Bill seemed to pretty clearly call the defensive plays in the Jets game. If he took over the play calling responsibilities, it doesn’t exactly speak highly of Steve’s capabilities.

There it is.

I'm not being anything but the guy who's pointing out your inaccuracy. We don't know what the outcome would have been had Jakobi not made that mistake, so to claim that he cost them the playoffs is unknowable and, therefore, inaccurate.

For the record, not signing DeAndre Hopkins had a much bigger impact than Jakobi Meyers.

My position from the beginning:

BB blew it on the tackles
BB blew it with Jakobi/JuJu
BB blew it with Hopkins

And, had he gotten those right, Jones might not have imploded. And that's "might", because it's possible that he was already too damaged to recover in New England, and it's even possible that he's being fixing of any kind, in any place. It's also "might" because Strange has been garbage for a lot of his time in New England, and he was a real problem for the line at the start of the season, and that pressure up the middle might still have been enough to finish off Jones.

None of that excuses Jones, or O'Brien, or Kraft, or anyone else. But Belichick's screwups were easy to see coming a mile away, massive, and mostly avoidable.

The Covington promotion to me signals the defensive system remaining, and hopefully carrying over some continuity from last season. Hopefully good news on the resigning of our FA's will follow soon.

Mac Jones' implosion started long before last year.

On one hand, cool.
On the other hand - what's the point of firing the coach, if you're just going to run it back with everyone else like they weren't there?
