There was no way around the obvious talent deficit the Patriots operated with last season, which surely contributed to the one-and-done coaching tenure of Jerod Mayo. The response under new coach Mike Vrabel was one of the biggest Foxborough spending sprees in recent years -- through the first week of free agency, the Pats signed players to contracts with a combined total value of $279.3 million, the most in the NFL, according to Spotrac. That money bought a defensive overhaul that included defensive lineman Milton Williams, pass rushers Harold Landry and K’Lavon Chaisson, cornerback Carlton Davis and linebacker Robert Spillane. Vrabel is building a tough, physical defense. New England still needs more weapons for quarterback Drake Maye and a playoff spot might be another year away in the loaded AFC, but this activity should at least put the Patriots on the rise again.

I guess that means our QB isn't the attraction that people believe he is... And/or that UFA WRs with leverage don't want to play for someone who's a total ass hat and who's also NEVER coached the position before... And/or they don't feel - not without justification of course - that this front orifice as currently constituted is capable of doing what is Truly needed to fix this pile of shit of a roster...

OR....

Chris Godwin doesn't want to move out of Florida for the end of his career run.

OR...

Massachusetts is an overtaxed dump filled with soft people, and no sane person would want to live there if he had other options.

But maybe you're right. It's Drake Maye.

John Hannah. Now THAT is a HOF Guard.

Who were the tunescribe-like yahoos here who told me Joe Thuney was a future HOF? Good grief. What an embarrassing take.
The 80's ... You could have had an OL of:

Munoz-Hannah-Stephenson-Grimm-Covert ... And guys like Webster and Jacoby ready to fill in.

i think it has more to do with the fact that we were a "4" win team last year

A "4" win team two years in a row, with a brand new coaching staff, an owner who's been cheaping out for a decade, and a second-year QB who was a turnover machine in his rookie season.

That's not the ideal recipe for impressing offensive free agents.
