He was the one guy left I thought was worth signing. I don't love getting a player off an injury but he was really good last year before it. All the attitude stuff is way overblown. The Texans raved about him and voted him a team captain to start the season.Everyone loves this but me I'm sure.

All I can do is hope he behaves himself while he's in New England. He was the one guy left I thought was worth signing. 3 years, 69M for a 32 year old WR coming off an ACL.
This would be problematic even if it wasn't a diva like Niggs.
Like always, the total number doesn't really matter.. with 26m guaranteed it's most likely a 2 year deal they can get out of, and with incentives. It's one of those "if he earns the total contract, we're going to be happy" because it means he stayed healthy and balled out.

I think this is why they did the 2-3 year deal. That way if he looks pretty good this season he's not back out the door to somewhere else.Coming off an ACL, half of year one (at least) is likely to be subpar based on typical comeback seasons from ACL.
So for this to be worthwhile, it better be a 3 year success story when he's 35.
There's no way the real money is actually $69M, so you can be at ease about that.

Diggs definitely wasn't any of our first choice, (that I know of) but at this point of the offseason, between all the other old-ass WR's, injuries, and certain players not wanting to play in NE... this is about as good as we can do. And I don't think it means they are done.
WR and LB are going to be super interesting going into camp, they competition there is going to be fun.. LOTS of bodies
I think it changes the type of player they may take at WR for sure. Diggs played a lot of slot next to Collins last year.. We would still benefit from wither a speed-big play guy, or a true X type like Tet or Higgins. If they can pair him with Hunter, this team might turn from desperate to solid at WR, PDQ.

Oh yeah he's clearly WR1, I'm just not thinking he'll play X all the time. They can throw 6'4" Hollins out there a bit, mixed in with whoever else makes the team between Bourne, Boutte, Polk/Baker and draft pick.I look at Diggs as the bridge WR1, and the guy who may just have to accept that he's going to see all the coverage roll towards him even as his ability to beat such coverage has diminished.
