Patriots news

Wait until after round 2 of the draft, to see if they address the LT position...
They should be addressing it with their first round pick now. I’d be absolutely shocked if they didn’t. Vrabel is the kind of guy who, correctly, likes to build inside-out.

Ehh...

The smart move is still to take either Carter or Hunter at 4 if you think they are legitimately elite prospects and they are available, IMO.

And this is why they should have moved heaven and earth to get a left tackle via free agency, so that desperation would not be a factor at #4.

They will trade back up late in the first round to get your boy Banks. He will be the third OT taken.

But about that:

8 games
47 catches on 64 targets
496 yards

Translate that to the last season's numbers:

17 Games
107 catches on 160 targets
1183 yards

That would be

17 games
99 catches on 136 targets
1054 yards

Numerically, there really wasn't any notable decline, particularly when you take into account the better surrounding cast (compared to Buffalo) in Houston taking away some of the plays that might otherwise have gone to him.
His YPC went down a bit but he was playing in the slot more than earlier in his career, Buffalo also moved him there more in 2023 after changing OC's. I think there's a pretty good chance he plays the slot a good bit (like 40%) in Josh's system where a reliable player is needed especially on 3rd downs.

Hard for me to envision a world where Hunter makes it past 3. He may even go #2 overall. I think we won our way out of that sweepstakes last year. I could easily see Carter being available, though. I’d be fine with it as long as we trade back up, if necessary, for the tackle. My preference would be to take the tackle at 5, trade back in for either Golden or Egbuka, and grab Princely Umanmielen in the 2nd round. Most of the quality edge rushers are going to go in the top 10-15 from the sounds of it. Subject to change, of course.

Ward is going #1.

Cleveland is supposedly in love with Abdullah at #2.

All signs point to NYG going with Sanders. However, they could opt for Hunter.

There is essentially a 50/50 world where Hunter is there at #4. In fact, Vegas had Hunter to the Patriots at greater than 50% last I checked (-120).

I think the Giants are out on Sanders at #3 and they will take Hunter there. As of right now the Browns rumors are Carter.. so we may see a trade down scenario or who they like BPA at #4 if the "shit hits the fan" scenario happens for us.

I am seeing a bunch of updated mocks with Membou to the pats at #4, he's the odds on favorite 1st OL drafted now.

May be right. In which case, I hope Jerod Mayo gets hit by a dump truck for that annoying fucking smile after winning that last game.

I don’t think he falls past the Giants at 3 with Wilson signed.

Unless they hate Sanders, it doesn't make any sense for the Giants to go WR at #3, if the QB's available. Both the coach and the GM are trying to save their jobs, and a developmental WR doesn't do that for them.

But a QB might.

Why would Russell Wilson change that? He's good for a year or two at best. Sanders would be the future.

If Wilson keeps them from taking Sanders, then they didn't like Sanders in the first place. And that may be the case. But Russell Wilson is not the reason.
