Better odds that the article was written by a diversity hire.
Nah, you still have to pay a diversity hire. ChatGPT is free. And NESN's hardly a cash cow these days.

58 years old now, and pushing 5 bills, but I'd still take him over Chewbacca.

Is anyone who's not a Patsfans.com-level homer actually buying any of the Kraft apology tour?
No. And even on Patsfans the copium is minimal. There's more coping about how awesome the Patriots FA actually went, than Kraft's apology tour, even from the most ardent of Anti-BBers.

People tend to forgive and forget when things aren't easy to see. Nobody sane is going to rail against the Celtics forever over Gordon Hayward getting hurt almost the moment his season started.

And people tend to forgive, though not forget, a good amount of things that were reasonable, even if they weren't the best choice. Taking a flier on on an injury risk in an appropriate round when you have enough talent that you can afford to miss won't be forgotten, but most people will be fine with a bunch of them before they start to really lose patience.

What people don't tend to ever forget, or to easily forgive, is when the things were obvious and the teams goes the other way. Letting Meyers walk because you're replacing him with an obviously shot JuJu for about the same money is one of those, but that's much more on BB than on Kraft. However, backing down from the deflate gate fight is on Kraft, and it's one of those. Not doing everything he could to keep Tom Brady because you he wanted to appease the obviously less important member of the coach/QB duo is one of those. Etc...

In short, Kraft dug his own hole around here, and a lot of it has nothing to do with how he's handled the Belichick firing.

Frankly, it's wild to look at the big four of the local sports scene. The two winningest ownership groups (Red Sox/Patriots) are the two groups people are currently most hostile towards because of the recent blundering and generally shitty choices, while the two teams winning the least (Celtics/Bruins) have ownership that largely gets a pass on the failures, because they are not perceived to be the ones failing.

The reason I'm pissed at the Sox and boycotting them this year isn't because they finished in last place the last 2 years. That shit happens. What really bothers me is that they didn't try to improve. They slashed payroll instead and are throwing out the cheapest product they can find to maximize profits. I used to have a great amount of respect for Henry and the Red Sox owner group, but not any more. I can't wait until they sell the team to an owner that wants to win. Henry used to be that guy but I guess the novelty wore off for him.
This will be the first time in probably 35-40 years that I haven't watched opening day and it's really bothering me. I won't compromise though, I'm sticking to my guns. Fuck that cuck Henry!

Henry has obviously changed his approach to the Red Sox since he started buying up other sports properties, and started transitioning away from the teams to businesses (i.e. the attempt to overhaul the Fenway area). This is what happens when greed wins out over less material desires.

And sports owners get away with it all the time, because sports fans are idiots when it comes to "loyalty".

Yeah I noticed some posters that were anti Bill doubling down by saying how awesome anything Mayo and the FO does. It's getting nauseating. All it is is to troll Team Bill, but I haven't seen anyone take the bait.

I didn't like a lot things Bill did post 1st dynasty and was growing tired during the 10 drought, but some posters over there are taking it too far. It's a Bill discophile doing the same shit he's doing.

They've been very silent. It's mostly anti Bill guys dominating right now saying how wonderful the team is and they will make playoffs now. It's fucking bizarre.

That's asinine. The team personnel is worse right now than it was last season, and one of the greatest head coaches in NFL history is gone, which means that the coaching will be worse as well. Meanwhile, the Jets have upgraded, the Dolpins and Bills were out of the Patriots league last season, and the Patriots finished dead last in the conference last season, meaning that the team would have to leapfrog every single non-playoff team from last year just to be at the #8 spot and hoping for a wild card team above that ending up dropping out. So...

Last year's division winners:

Bills
Ravens
Texams
Chiefs

Last year's wild card teams:

Dolphins
Browns
Steelers ( and upgraded at the QB spot)

Last year's non-playoff teams likely to improve even if just because of injury/health returnees at the QB spot:

Bengals
Jets

Who's the savior? Tom Brady is not coming out of retirement to play for the Patriots.

I think that, as time goes on, Pats fans will be more at ease with the choice of letting Brady move on. For one, it settled the debate. Brady was more important. Far more important.

For another, he won a Super Bowl in his first year away from the team. He likely would have repeated in 2021 had it not been for the OL injuries. Meanwhile, Bill took a big time shit.

He could have sold off the most expensive assets for draft picks in 2020 when it was clear we weren’t going anywhere with Cam and tanked that season to get a better pick. He didn’t. Then we had to watch as he picked Mac, someone who needed a lot of support at the NFL level in his first year, then failed to do much of anything to help him.

Bill finally being gone means that target #1 is no longer around, so the hostility level will drop. But will people really ever get over Kraft's part in it? I know that I won't.

Really, what should have happened this offseason (and it should have happened even before that) is that Kraft and BB should both have gone.

Yeah… but did you hear that Kraft built Gillette without taxpayer money?

If anyone else has any interest, NFL Network will be showing Super Bowl LI (Pats/Falcons) Saturday at 9:00 AM EST. I'll be watching and rooting for the Patriots.
