Super Bowl 58 Pregame Thread: 49ers versus Chiefs

Is he, though? I don't ask that dismissively. I ask that because it's just assumed (and I've been making the same assumption) in the face of the data. This reminds me of a couple of years where Brady should have won the MVP, but didn't, because voters just followed along with the general media narrative.

I think Mahomes is the best QB in the league now that Brady's retired, but I've seen a lot lately that's making me think just a tiny bit more about that, and I wonder if others are getting just a hint of that, too.
He has the stats, the flash, and the wins to back it up. I'd take him over any QB right now hands down

I'm bummed out over this injury. He was arguably our second best pass rusher after Chris Jones down the stretch. No Thuney either

sounds like you guys had another miracle season on the injury front

But he didn't have the stats this year. He was helped out, a lot, by his defense. He was probably only somewhere between the #5 and #10 QB this year. I mean, he was only #14 in passer rating, for example.

Mahomes was only #8 in completion percentage.
Mahomes was not in the top 10 in yards per completion or yards per pass.
