Dear Sean Payton:



Bo Nix is not the next Drew Brees.

Probably not, but he has one of the biggest hands in the draft...good for Denver's cold weather...and a high accuracy percentage....and probably the most mature QB. Also, Nix played at Auburn just like Stiddy... He played well in going toe to toe vs. Penix's U of Dub team twice this season...

We will see how that goes...

Look at the Class of 83 ... John Elway, Todd Blackledge, Jim Kelly, Tony Eason, Ken O'Brien and Dan Marino. rein the Hall, Ken had a solid career (not great, but not a bust), Eason went to the big dance (and he had the skills to do more, but got his manhood taken away). Only Blackledge was a bust. Is this year's class so much better that six in twelve is justified?

I've got Nix as a straight bust/major overdraft, Daniel and Penix as guys who's careers are likely to be derailed by injury, McCarthy as a guy who just wasn't worth the pick, and then Maye and Williams as the two guys with the most breakout potential.

And I'd be happy if Maye ever had a career like either Kelly and Marino...0-5 in Superbowls...I mean we can't win em' all.... hell Eason is 0-1 in a Superbowl too....so better than even odds that Maye plays in a Superbowl, no?

I was looking more at when they were drafted ... spread out over the first round. Not 50% of the first 12 picks.

What concerns me about McCarthy is that he's already had top-level NFL QB coaching, for years, and it shows in how fundamentally sound he is. It means that there's not really much more that can be done with the guy from a development standpoint.

That too. Hell, 5 in 15 was too much just a couple of years ago.

lots of top defensive prospects, so expect a run on some of them which should put us in position to move back into back of 1st round to get WR or OT

WWWAAAAYYYYYY different league back then....

No disrespect to Elway, Marino, and Kelly...all of whom who could have easily played today and had lines of 5K passing yards and 50+ TDs these days...

But for example...Eason...with today's rules...maybe...just maybe he wouldn't have been shell shocked?
