Can’t believe I’m saying this but Sofia Vergara fucking kills it in Griselda

I like watching shows on my phone during heavy cardio workouts. Helps take my mind off the monotony. I’ve been watching GoT again. It’s absolutely insane how good that show was from seasons 1-4. Season 5 is still very good but there’s a noticeable slip in quality when it comes to the writing. Then, the show goes off the rails.

I finished Griselda. I’d give it a solid B. Acting and production were top notch. It was filmed like the Narcos series.

The big issue is it was just way too short at six episodes. I was thinking it would be 2-3 seasons but it gets wrapped up too soon. Because of this, it gets overly dramatized because they’re trying to cram everything into very limited screen time. On the other hand the Narcos series hashes out every detail to the point it sometimes even drags a bit.

That show didn’t fully do her justice. She was an animal.

Still a top 5 show for me I don't care about the ending. Those GoT reaction days were the best.

I loved the Arya assassin storyline although it sort of fizzled out. The cheeseball 80s slash thriller climax where she took out the Night King was truly criminal. This video sums it all up. The show was also ruined by catering to the bandwagon idiot fans that recently migrated from The Bachelor to GoT in the later seasons. Fucking morons. Was it lost on everyone that her simple attack got repelled (due to lazy plot writing lacking innovation) but she slayed him regardless? All that assassination strategy just to jump directly into his clutches.

That battle started off all wrong as well. Hey! You 200 or so Dothraki! Light your swords on fire and charge right at the army of the dead.

I’m in the lead up to the Battle of the Bastards right now. Before the show starts to REALLY go off the rails. Man, Ramsay was a great villain. Just a sick, sick man. Hardhome aged spectacularly well. The writers, actors, and direction team put on a clinic in that battle.

@Ice_Ice_Brady I know they ran out of GRRM’s source material, but I’m not a big enough nerd to have researched when that happened. Seems to me it must have happened sometime around S7 upon rewatch. The editing in S6 started to become really bad. The Faith Militant dude who got his head ripped off by the Mountain holding both hands on the Mountain’s forearms BEFORE dropping his sword with one hand (should have been the other way around), Jon’s sword flopping around when he jumped on his horse to save Rickon, etc. The writing joined it in S7.

I would have focused S7 on Danaerys retaking the Iron Throne instead of wasting time at Dragonstone. Cersei dies, Jaime dies. In the North, they would have mined Dragonglass, prepped for the Great War, and focused on the politics of reuniting the North. Littlefinger still dies when his game of pitting the Starks against each other still fails. By the end of S7, Danaerys, now Queen of the Seven Kingdoms, meets the North and learns of the Night King, the Great War. Write your other characters (like the Hound) around that.

S8 is now a more natural end to the show. Instead of Dani losing her mind, she dies in the Great War. Jon, now that his true lineage is public knowledge, assumes the Iron Throne.
